A couple months earlier.....Aubrey
"IS THAT THE LAST BOX?!" I yelled to August as I jogged downstairs.
"Damn girl, I'm right here." He said chuckling, bringing in two more boxes.
"Sorry." I said laughing some, while heading into the huge kitchen. It was complimented with a grey and white mixed marble countertop, along with a island in middle of the kitchen.
"Can I go check out upstairs?"
"Yeah, just try not to fall over anything." While I took out the kitchen utensils, he began looking around. Before this, We lived together. We go way back ever since I moved in next door to his house at the age of five and we've been close ever since.
Despite his issues, he was always like a big brother to me....even though I caught myself having a crush on him a couple times. He was the guy next door who always protected me. I had his back and he had mine.
While pushing the chairs in place, he came back down with a concerned look on his face.
"Are you okay?"
"Nah... it's just....are you sure you wanna live here by ya self?"
"What? Is it too big?"
"No it's jus'.... I'm not used to not having you around any more." I placed my hand on my heart playfully, looking at him in awe and he laughed.
"A nigga gon' be feeling lonely these days..."
"I'll be fine August. Dont worry."
"You'll call me if you feel unsafe right?"
"Of Course." I said taking out wine glasses, carefully sitting them on the counter.
He peaked out the windows and frowned some before opening and shutting the door, turning the handle repeatedly.
"Just so you know, I changed your lock."
"When?"
"Before you moved in. It's jus' for extra safety." He said looking up at me, slightly smiling.
"Well damn Aug."
"What I do?"
I laughed. "You didn't really have to do that."
"I don't wanna lose my best friend."
"You won't." I said, heading to the kitchen and putting the utensils up, along with the plates.
"I might install an alarm up in here." I heard August say. I sighed, closing the drawer back and shutting the cabinets and walked back out only to see him peaking out the window.
"Get out the window August!" I said.
"Give me 5 minutes.." He mumbled.
I slightly chuckled to myself. "What are you looking at anyways?" I said, walking over to him and peaking out myself to see.
"I don't trust that nigga."
"Who?" I said squinting my eyes some looking around.
"The one that's taking his trash out. He's across the street." As I continued to look, I saw this dude walking down his driveway. His house was big as hell and I could see he had a couple people there.
