Caroline's POV

His name was Niklaus. That seemed like such an old kind of name.

"I've never heard of the name Niklaus."He shrugged and let go of my hand.

"I've never heard the name Forbes. That's a lie."I giggled a bit and took in his english accent.

"Care!"Matt called over to me and held up a red solo cup.

"I have to go."I smiled at Niklaus and walked away, feeling his eyes staring at me.

"Hey, Tyler just got here. You might want something to drink."

Tyler was my ex boyfriend. We're just friends now but I still kind of loved him. I thought he was the one.

"Hey guys, give me a cup man."Tyler looked at each of us and chugged down a cup of beer.

Something had gotten into Tyler and he had disappeared for a while, giving one more reason why we broke up.

I watched Tyler walk through the crowds of people and shake someones hand--Niklaus.

"Why is he shaking you stalkers hand?"I shrugged and got another cup.

"Maybe Tyler got someone to stalk you."Bonnie gave me a smile and laughed.

"That's not funny Bon."Elenas brother gave the keg job to Matt and put his arm around Bonnie.

"Lets go dance."They left and I stood humming to the music with Elena.

"Has anything seemed off about Tyler the past few days since he's come back?"Matt shook his head and watched Tyler and Niklaus.

"I'll be back. I need to use the restroom."I walked into the school and down the hallway.

It was dim and the hall was vacant. I thought I heard someone walking behind me so I turned around. When I turned back Niklaus was infront of me.

Startled, I screamed.

"Niklaus. It's just you."He smiled.

"Sorry if I happened to scare you."How did he get in here so fast?

"What are you doing in here?"

"I wanted to invite you as my first guest to the party that my family is having."Party?

"It's at the Mikaelson mansion. I hope it won't seem too overwhelming."He gave an awkward smile and put a hand in his pocket.

"Mikaelson mansion? Wouldn't that be more of a ball?"He nodded and chuckled.

"Well, yes. We just moved back into town. We're one of the founding families, so we decided to give ourselves a good reputation."

"I understand."I pushed my blonde hair behind my ears. He stood, watching me process everything he had just said, waiting for an answer.

"Sure."

"Your friends can come if they'd like."I nodded and smiled.

His dark blue eyes looked into mine and he let out a sigh.

"Wear something pretty."Niklaus winked and disappeared.

Something about him made my heart skip. He was handsome, had an athletic body, and the most handsome face.

"Care, there you are."Matt ran up to me and took my hand.

"Matt what's wrong?"He started pulling me towards the exit and out into the lawn.

"It's Ty. He got really mad and ran off somewhere."

"Maybe he just needs to calm down by himself."
