Elijah's POV

I mentally braced myself for the things I was about to say. My anxiety was getting the best of me so I stayed silent for several minutes before hesitantly look up to meet the eyes of my mate. He nodded encouragingly at me and I took a deep breath.

"I guess you can say it all started when my mother found out she was mated to a hunter. She was apart of a pack far north called the Cold Stone pack. She met Allen in the woods when she was out for a run. On instinct they attacked each other but its when my mother had him pinned and they looked into each others eyes that everything changed. He despised her. Depressed, my mother tried leaving. But, she couldn't leave her family behind. On the month she was in heat, the hunter, Allen, found her howling in the woods. The pull was too strong to ignore. One thing led to another and soon my mother found she was pregnant with me. Once I was conceived, my mother saw a mark on my right side. A half moon with a dagger shot through it. The mark of veneficas."

I saw the look of shock through Tyler and his fathers faces. To get this mark is to be bred by a witch-hunter. To have this mark mean great power which is enhanced with my being a werewolf.

"Somehow my father had found out about her pregnancy and the mark. He hunted us down. His forces were too much for my mothers pack. Allen left no survivors, we had just barely escaped. I was only four at the time. We ran and ran. Searching for any help. Looking for new life. We were taken in by a pack and called it home. My mother fell in love with a widowed wolf and had my other siblings, we thought we were safe. But, as you already knew, we weren't as safe as we thought. One thing you must know about Allen is that he is no ordinary Hunter. He was bred by witch-hunters. He was given enhanced abilities no human has. He has the speed, higher intelligence, very skilled in combat. They made him into the most ruthless hunter you will ever meet."

I paused, letting the information sink in. Tyler still had a look of confusion on his face but his father nodded in understanding.

"Just as I suspected. We need to enforce a curfew. No children must be left outside without more than one guardian present. We need to have perimeter checks and we must train our pack for war."

Tyler and I looked at each other in mild shock. He knows more than he lets on. Tyler nods at his father and tugs at my sleeve to get me moving out the door. He leads we through the pack house down to the hallway of out bedrooms. I stop him abruptly and hug him tightly. "Do you hate me? Please don't hate me"

Tyler pulls back and kisses my lips lightly. "I will never hate you. We're in this together. Now come, we have a pack to train." He takes my hand and leads me to the training room.

I cant help but worry. Thoughts start to fill my mind about the risks i'm putting the pack through. The last two packs i have been apart of have died because of me. Will this pack have the same fate?

No. I wont let that happen. I cant.

I WILL protect my mate and I WILL avenge my family.
