“I don’t know,” Jez sighed as she fell back onto the bed.
Haz cocked her head to the side and put her hands on her hips, “What do you mean you don’t know?”
“It’s just,” Jez sighed again, “I don’t know.”
“You know you’re not giving me much to work with here. ‘I don’t know’ could mean ‘I don’t know if I can do this for a year’ or ‘I don’t know if this is going to work’ or ‘I don’t know what I had for breakfast this morning’-“ Haz started saying.
“Oh my God, Haz! I don’t know! I don’t know about any of this, I don’t see how this is going to work and I don’t know about not knowing.” Jez said and closed her eyes.
Haz sighed and sat down next to her friend on the bed, “You know, for someone so vocal, you really are at a loss for words.” She looked down at Jez, “What exactly is on your mind?”
“I don’t know, I guess I’m just scared.” Jez said quietly.
“Firstly, stop saying ‘I don’t know’ and secondly, scared of what?” Haz asked in confusion.
Jez opened her eyes and stared back at the ceiling, “Scared of living with these five boys for the next year, I guess. It’s all just kind of overwhelming, don’t you think?”
“Yeah, it is,” Haz crossed her legs on the bed, “But that’s why Alex and I are here, remember? You’re not completely alone; you don’t have anything to be scared of.”
Jez sat up and brought her knees up to her chest, “That’s not all.”
Haz rolled her eyes, “What else is it?”
“It’s just… there’s five of them, and two of us, if you get what I’m saying.” Jez said and started playing with her fingers awkwardly.
It took a while before Haz understood what her friend was trying to say, “So, you mean, what if one of us gets like, a crush?”
Jez simply nodded and didn’t look up at her friend.
Haz shrugged, “Well, we don’t have to act on those feelings.”
Jez looked up at her friend and raised an eyebrow, “Imagine being with someone twenty-four-seven and getting all stupid and jumpy every time you’re around them and not doing anything about it? Hell, you wouldn’t even have to act on those feelings, they’re pretty obvious.”
Haz huffed, “Do you have a crush on one of them?”
“What?” Jez asked. “No. I’m just saying, it’s kind of inevitable, and if it does happen then are we just supposed to ignore it?”
“You do have a crush on one of them!” Haz said and smirked.
“No! I really don’t,” Jez said and rolled her eyes.
“But you think you will have a crush on one of them?” Haz raised an eyebrow.
“It’s not a certainty, but there is a chance that I might develop feelings for one of them, and in that event-“ Jez rambled.
“Stop talking like they’re a science experiment.” Haz said quickly.
Jez groaned and fell back onto the bed, “I don’t know how else to deal with this. You and I both know I don’t have the best history with relationships.”
Haz looked over at her friend for a while then took a deep breath, “Look, maybe you’re overthinking this and maybe you won’t feel anything for any of them by the time this tour is over. But, if anything does happen, then just know that Alex and I are here for you, no matter what. If anything happens, we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it.”
“If we get to it. Hopefully, we can just take the detour and meet them on the other side,” Jez added in with a smile.
Haz rolled her eyes and smirked, “Stop worrying. Here, I think I know what will get your mind off it.”
