18- Fallen| The Lost Chapter

You were nervous. Your fingers trembling in front of the doorbell and you stood frozen on the doorway, clutching your fist. After inhaling a few deep breaths, you finally clicked on the goddamn doorbell in determination.

You heard shuffling and the door opened, revealing a messed up looking, white haired male. Your heart skipped a beat as you saw his appearance. His eye bags were even more obvious than the last time you saw him and you felt guilty for making him wait for so long.

"(Name)..." He whispered, his voice cracking and full of regrets.

"Kaneki... I..." You started and Kaneki hushed you.

"Come on in first.." He said, a small smile appeared on his lips.

You hesitantly followed after him and he lead you to the living room. You sat on one of the sofas and you silently stared at the carpet.

"(Name)" Kaneki's voice snapped you out of your trance and you looked at him.

"Um... I know this may sound.. You know.. Reasons.. But I wanted to tell you why.. It happened. And I regret every second of it.." He gazed at you, eyes in pain.

You sucked in a deep breath and gave him a single nod.

You later found out that it wasn't his fault. You knew somewhere in your heart that he wasn't at fault but you refused to believe it.
You saw it right in front you. But after telling you his story, your frown deepened and your fist were clenched tightly.

"I-I'm really sorry, (Name). I shouldn't have let her come close to me.. I should've seen it coming" he whispered, his voice shaking.

"Of course you shouldn't have let her come close to you when you have a girlfriend you idiot. It was obvious that she was flirting with you and she wants your attention! She used you, Kaneki! You're just too kind.." You said.

"I'm sorry..! I-I was confused with my feelings for you at that time.. But when you leave... I just... It hurts too much, (Name).. I still love you after all.."

Your heart clenched and you bit your lip.

"You hurt me too when you pushed me away, you know.. When I saw you with that girl and when I saw you reject my call... I was in so much pain.. So much that you have no freaking idea, Kaneki. But.. I just can't bring myself to hate you. I... still love you too" you whispered, looking down at the floor.

You heard a small gasp and in a split second you were wrapped in a warm, familiar embrace and his subtle boyish scent struck your nose. His hair tickled your nose and you hugged him back. You felt wetness on your shoulder where Kaneki buried his face and it doesn't take you long to realize that he was crying.

"Kaneki..." You pushed him away and you wiped his tears with your hand.

"I'm really sorry, (Name).. I'll be a better person for you. I promise" he whispered, cupping your hands in his larger ones.
A smile carved its way to your lips and you squeezed his hands.

"Okay."

A year has passed and you were living with Kaneki once again. You woke up to coldness next to you and your brows furrowed in confusion. You ran your arms at the space next to you.

Cold.

"He didn't tell me anything.."

It's clear that he woke up way earlier than you. You glanced at the alarm clock: 10.50am. A chuckle escaped your lips and you shook your head.
