You heard knocks from your window and saw a figure crouching in front of it. A guy, with snow-white hair and an overly familiar face was smiling at you. "Kaneki!!" you gasped as you opened the window, letting him in. Tears threatened to fall from your eyes and you pulled him into a tight hug. "I miss you" you said and you felt him hug back then he patted your head.

"I miss you too..." he said. "Where have you been all these time? And what happened to your hair?" you asked as you looked up at him. He explained everything and your eyes widened in fear. "You- you're fine now, right?" you asked, panicked. "I am. Don't worry, (y/n)"he smiled in reassurance.

"F-fine... how long will you be staying here?" you asked. "I'm not sure" he answered and you nodded. "You should probably wash up, don't you think?" you giggled. "Yeah..." he laughed awkwardly as he scratched his cheek. "I'll prepare your cloth. Go, go. You stink" you joked as you pushed him to the bathroom. "You still love me anyway" he smirked and you rolled your eyes, blushing.

"Whatever" you said and walked away to take his spare clothes which he kept at your place, just in case something happened. "I'm placing your cloth in front—" your words were cut off when Kaneki opened the door, towel wrapped around his lower body. He was drying his hair using a smaller towel. (OH MY GOD. REMEMBER THAT PART IN THE MANGA?? /dies in a sea of blood/). You turned deep red and turned your back to him, squealing silently.

"I-I-I'll be in the l-living room" you stammered and you walked away, stumbling on your feet clumsily in the process. You cursed at your clumsy self and you heard Kaneki chuckle. *Oh, my god. He changed so much?! Or am I seeing things??!?* You held your warm cheeks and closed your eyes, trying to calm down. You felt something soft on your lips and you opened your eyes. You saw Kaneki's face right in front of you.

You softened and kissed him back. You felt him smile and deepened the kiss. You could feel the feelings he poured out in the kiss that both of you shared. Desperation. Passion. Sadness. Loneliness. Gratefulness. Hope. And love. He licked your lower lip and you pulled away, blushing. "S-sorry..." you said and looked down in embarrassment. He just chuckled and pulled you in a tight embrace. "I love you so much" he breathed out and you hugged him tighter. "I love you more."

Both of you stayed together until the day where Kaneki told you that he needs to go. "(Y/n)... I should be going..." he said and you froze. "N-now...?" you asked, eyes tearing up. "Tonight. The CCGs are after me" he said and smiled painfully. "Then, please be careful" you said, warm tears finally fell from your eyes. "I'm sorry..." he said and wiped your tears.

He pulled you in a hug and you hugged him back, crying on his shoulder. He gently rubbed your back and kissed the top of your head. Both of you spent the time remaining together and you felt that the time goes by too fast to be true. You felt the lump in your throat grew bigger as the time you dreaded came by. Kaneki sensed how tense you were and gave you a soothing smile which never failed to melt your heart.

"Kaneki, you'll come back, right?" you said as you tugged on his sleeve. "I will" Kaneki smiled as he gave you a smile and kissed your cheek. "Promise?" you blushed and he chuckled. "I promise" he said and you hugged him for the last time before he went off. "(Y/n), no matter what happens, I'll still love you and you're the only one for me." He planted a kiss on your lips and you broke down in tears as you watch his figure faded into the night.

That was the last time you saw him before he completely disappeared without trace.
