chapter three:New world

As I said my final goodbyes,my mother was silent observing us with a oddly amused expression and when we were in her truck heading out to where ever the hell we were going,I finally broke down and had to ask.
"What's got you so tickled?"I asked her staring at the dark sky.
"How much your father and I wanted to send you off to college, and its strange how they basically just sent you off,and I was there but you were sent to me."She says.
Oh.I don't say anything back in response to that.She sighs.
"So our elders are the oldest group of vampires and werewolves,extremely powerful and basically how humans would say it,our police. On my side, you have Jarro, the oldest and our leader,and Veronica, his companion. On your fathers side, Easel the oldest and waire his companion. In both our sets of laws, we are natural enemies,and forbidden for anything to do with each other. That was the first crime your father and I committed. The second,was loving each other. The third and most punishable crime,was having you. After we discovered you were coming,I didn't show any signs, I just felt you moving,so I faked my own death and ran away with your father and we left our scent by an accident so they tracked us down,and I fled with you again,and your father killed Veronica. After your father caught up with us,the tables turned and our elders joined forces trying to hunt us down together,because they knew you had been born."she stopped and looked at me letting me process these words. I nodded for her to continue,so far everything was making sense.
"I knew for a fact that you were very powerful,because very soon after your birth,you started doing weird things. Your eyes were glowing blue, and you'd move stuff with out touching it or being anywhere near it. Just by looking at it. As your father and I realized what this meant, we both agreed that should something happen to us,we'd seal away your powers using the forbidden spells we were not supposed to use,crime number four.In order to obtain the book of forbidden spells,we had to visit the Dark witch Coven,and I can assure you,they are dangerous and never to be messed with unless it is very important. They don't take too kindly to random acts of kindness,but when they saw you,it was like you melted away their hostility just by looking at them,and they let us use their spell book."she explained.
"So how do I get those powers back?"I asked her.
"We go back to the Witch coven,located in Colorado,and hopefully, it was you and not your power that thawed them out last time so we can use the book once again."she says.
Finally a destination is clear. Witch coven huh?I never knew all of this existed along side my world,then again who really is supposed to know that type of thing.
We continued our drive for another hour or so,and I was beginning to get hungry,which brought me on to another set of questions for my mother.
"So what's your diet like ? " I ask curiously. She made an unpleasant face and shifted in her seat. She took a deep breath."I'm supposed to feed on humans,but i try my hardest not to feed too much. I can go weeks without blood,and it will work but I'll get weaker the more I go without it."she says.
"Oh,i see."That's all I can manage to say,with it being so awkward and all. After all this time,i was getting to know my mother for the first time,and she was about to die very soon. I frown suddenly realizing how important this is to me that I do everything I can to keep her alive. She's all I have left now,because whether or not I liked it,i would never see my aunt and uncle ever again.
"Why did you ask? Scared I'll turn on you?"she asked winking at me with a grin
I smiled back at her and stuck my tongue out "No I'm just beginning to get hungry that's all,i haven't eaten since yesterday."I tell her.
She frowns,"I wonder what your diet will be when your powers are unsealed."she says more to herself than to me. Oh god. Horror I know was plain on my face,momentarily distracting me from my hunger. Would I drink blood? Or eat other animals? I cleared my throat and tried to shake it off,"I'm not sure but right now I'd really like some fruit can we stop somewhere?"I ask her.
"I'd rather not,honestly I have some granola and water there in the back,i had gotten this before you came with me a few days ago.I just don't want to risk our scent being left behind,and traveling by foot is worse than in a vehicle they'd track us in no time."my mother says.
"I reckon I'll need to start thinking that way,it was careless of me."I murmur.
Mom sighed,and suddenly she exited the highway and pulled into a gas station.
"I'm going to fill up,just go on in and get you something to eat if you'd like,but be swift and keep your head down as much as you can."
I nodded at her and got out.The air was humid and damp,and by the sign on the door,i realized we were already in Colorado. Holy hell,how fast had mom been going? My heart started beating faster,knowing that we were close to reaching our destination.I don't know what I'm supposed to do when I see them. Just look at them and make my eyes glow? I walked inside of the store,and went straight for Apple juice.After grabbing that I was on my way to the front when suddenly,a pain jolted in my heart and before I could comprehend what was happening,i had hit the floor and lost consciousness.
When I woke up,my arms were chained to a dirt floor,i glanced up blurriness fading from my sight,and looked to my left and saw a torch lit with fire,and up ahead darkness.I looked up,and observed my surroundings,which began to look like a dark cave of some sort.Where the hell am I?
Where did my mother go?
"Have you finally awakened?"a deep voice asked from the shadows.It sent shivers down my spine almost immediately followed by an overwhelming sensation coming from within my stomach. As I looked down to see what it was I could see that my stomach was glowing a shade of blue,literally emanating from within,and forming some sort of cloak in front of me,almost as if it were a shield of some sort. I didn't have much time to react on it though,and as soon as I looked back up,it took everything In me not to cringe away from the man standing in front of me. he had silky white long hair and appeared almost too beautiful for earth with a strange white glow around him. His eyes were dark gray almost a light blue,and he appeared to be wearing a black cloak. Was this the witch?
"Hello Elaine,you may not know me,but I know exactly who you are."he said in a small voice.
"Who are you?if I may ask,"I say trying to keep the sudden fear down and show no signs of it. he smiled at me,"I'm the man that sealed your powers away for your parents."he crosses his arms which have a silver language that I'm not familiar with tattooed on them.
"Where is my mother?"I ask her quietly.
His face falls,sadly I think I already know the answer.
"The elders caught sight of the both of you and when you were making your way into the store she was taken away.I managed to get there in the Nick of time,and get us out in a hurry.Your mother had contacted me telling me she was on the way,so I thought I'd meet her there."he explains.
Fury seethed through me,unexpected and strong."Why didnt you help her?!"I yelled.
As sudden as a blink he appeared right before my eyes his sweet scent emanating from him and he stared me down,"you are lucky we did save you.Your life is worth alot more than just werewolves and vampires,and you should be happy that we are willing to protect you so well,so keep the yelling down or I'll curse your mouth shut.My name is Telliam, Liam for short."he sneered at me.
I wisely kept quiet and nodded."What is the next step then?"I ask him.
he stands up having been satisfied with my sudden submission."I am going to release your powers,then I will accompany you by my leaders wish to your mother,where the elders of your kind are to ensure no harm comes your way."
"Why are you watching over me?"I ask him. He seems so young,not too much older than me,and it's really strange how hard it is for me to ignore his glow.
"Your special Elaine obviously and you'll see why once your powers are unleashed."he says simply sighing.He turns away obviously finished with our conversation.
"Wait!"I yell at him.He turns to me an amused,yet annoyed expression on his face.
"Why do you glow?why do I glow?"I asked him.
"These are our protective shields,they automatically appear Everytime a new person who might potentially be dangerous is around,in order to give a sense of what's to come."he answers.
I process this then ask another question,"Am I dangerous?"I asked him.
He chuckled,and shook his head,"We'll have to find out tomorrow when your powers are released."he says.
"How old are you?"I blurt. I immediately blush,cursing myself for asking. It doesn't matter how old he is,hes a witch or wizard or what the hell ever.
"Way too old for you Lena,but then again I don't ever really age physically,so maybe something could spark."he jokes.
I blush.even deeper then I am irritated that it pleasures me for him to say that.
"In your dreams."I spit out.
"Which I hope you have sweet ones tonight,cause after tomorrow,all you'll ever have is nightmares."he said. And with that he left and never looked back .
