Burned

Chapter one:The beginning of the end

I clocked out from my job at the movie theater two whole hours earlier than I was scheduled to. My Uncle called me in a panic saying I needed to come home immediately, that some sort of emergency was going on. I didn't really panic though,because doing so would only stress me out. My boss seemed worried,because I never leave early,but because I'm so loyal to working he didn't mind. Trying to keep my heart at a steady place, I made my way to the parking lot towards my silver eclipse and decided I'd call and let him know I was on the way. When I tried calling him I received no answer,just his voicemail,odd because he always answers his phone. I frown and climb in my car,start her up and take off towards my house. I live in Newburg Ohio,in a small two bedroom house with my uncle,who's been raising me along side my aunt since I was three years old. My father passed away a month after my birth,and my mother just left me on their doorstep. Well,not literally but she did just drop me off and say shed be back soon. But fifteen years later not a post card, text, or even a happy birthday. Not that I really cared anyways. I had to accept at a young age she wasn't coming back. What was beginning to nag at my mind was the fact that uncle Jeff had been having complications with his blood pressure being high,and if something happened to him I know I'd loose it. He gave me a life that almost didn't get to have. I graduated two months ago,I'm going to college next week,I have a job good friends and a pretty okay life all thanks to him and my aunt. As I pulled into the familiar white house,I saw an unfamiliar black escalade truck parked next to my uncles pick up and my aunts dodge charger. Who the hell ? I climbed out, taking a deep breath and staring at the setting sun behind purplish clouds,then went to the front door and let myself in. The first thing I saw was my aunt Janice and uncle Jeff sitting on the couch with anger in their eyes,then my eyes followed where they were glaring, and I'm pretty sure I almost fell over.
Standing there with thick, long black hair in a tight black sweater and black pants with black stilettos,was the woman who'd left me fifteen years ago,my mother.
The first thing that came to mind was, holy hell she looked my age. Like she's never changed,not a bit. The second thing? Why the hell was she here and what did she want with us? Third? I'm not really sure. But bitterness was automatically going through my system.
Uncle Jeff stood up and came over to me his brown eyes accessing mine,giving me a warning to mind my tounge, he knew I was too much like him.
"Lena,your mother is here to tell you some important things. Hear her out alright?"he said calmly.
I rolled my eyes and laughed,"Funny I'm listening to my mother who was never my mother, but go ahead 'Mom' humor me on why you have shown up."I spat out crossing my arms
My mother smiled sadly,with tears brimming in her eyes. The hell? I automatically felt bad,even though she was crap,I didn't like to see those blue eyes that were so similar to mine fill with tears.
"I'm sorry, please go ahead."I say softly.
She cleared her throat,"Lena.."she started.
"Elaine for now mom."I say. That wasn't too harsh. Plus I don't think she deserves the right to call me my nickname. She nodded.
"Elaine.. There are some things we need to talk about,some things that you Need to know,that all of you need to know. If you want to sit you can,because this is going to be a major shock."she says with a small smile that doesn't quite reach her eyes.
I frown,but I sit and Uncle Jeff comes to sit beside me,Aunt Janice held my hand in hers. Mom took a deep breath.
"Elaine,when you were born,your father and I wanted to keep you safe and protect you,and I'll explain from what in a moment, but your father did not pass from a car wreck,he was killed trying to keep the both of us safe."she paused and looked at us. I was in shock I admit. My dad was murdered? "Protect us from what?How does that explain where you've been?"I ask getting angry.
She looked down,"Elaine,your not human. Your father was a werewolf, and I am a vampire. Because we had you,both of our sets of elders wanted to kill you and kill Us for having you,so we fled and after your father died I brought you here,and sealed your powers away so that you could have a normal life. I've been misleading them on different paths all this time away from you so you could be safe,but last week,I was caught in Delaware, and they put a curse on me. I'm going to die Elaine, the curse kills anyone that it is inflicted on,and I believe my death will be sooner than I thought,but I just could not leave without telling you and letting you decide if you want me to unseal your powers to protect yourself,but they will come for you too,and I have to help you if its the last thing I do. Even if you think I've been lying and leaving you all alone, I've thought about you everyday."she says .
It takes me a minute to process the first sentence,then the rest. It was admittedly unbelievable... But if it was true.. Then all this time I'd hated my mother for no reason..
"Is this all true?Show me proof. I need proof."I stammered out the words seeing as nobody else was talking my uncle and aunt were just as astonished as I am. She held out her hand,"I'll show you.."she said to me.
"Hold the hell up.You expect us to believe this shit ?!"my uncle exploded.
My mom cringed,"Please Jeff..your brother and I want the best for her. please believe me.."she said softly.
"Why should we ?! We raised your daughter! Your sick in the head! Get out!!"my aunt went along with him.
But for some reason deep in my core,I knew she wasn't lying. She looked so devastated, tired and worn out from busting her ass to save me..I'd give her the chance to prove it. That's the least and the most I will do. I stood up and stared my mother down.
"Show me,and once you have..we can go from there."

Hey everyone Nailah here! This book is fast paced,something big will happen every chapter and I know there was a lot to take in,but its going to so much fun to keep writing this!
