I must have fallen asleep at some point because I woke up on his couch. He had gotten up already because I was laying alone on my side. There was a fur blanket over me and my hair was knotted atop my head. I stood up and walked to the bathroom only to find that my eyes were red and puffy from crying.
I could hear him talking on the phone from another room so I decided to make myself coffee with his new Keurig. After a few moments, I heard him sigh and then sit down at the table. I turned around and saw a flustered look across his face.
"What's up?" I asked as I sat down across from him.
"I... I have some payments overdue that I need to take care of."
I raised my eyebrows and took a sip of coffee. "What kind of payments?"
"That doesn't matter. I'll have to meet up with the guy later and I was wondering if you'd like to come with me."
"Is it some-sort-of drug dealer?"
"No. I just owe a guy money, Jess. It's not a big deal."
"Then how come you look all worried about it and you're afraid to go alone?"
"I'm not afraid to- ugh! Never mind. Are you coming, or not?"
"I'll come."
"Good."
"But I need you to be honest with me."
"Okay. What do you want to know?"
"Why are you scared?"
The word seemed foreign to him because he raised his eyebrows in confusion. "Who said I'm afraid of anything?"
I snorted. "I can read you, Trevor. God knows you're afraid of meeting up with this guy." I paused. "As what's a relationship without honesty?"
He smirked. "Okay. The truth is, I crashed my ex's dad's Mercedes and he doesn't know it yet."
"WHAT?"
"Yeah, I may or may not have ran it into a lamppost."
"How? Are you like the world's worst driver?"
"I was probably just drunk, honestly."
"Her dad is going to kill you, Trevor!"
"Exactly! I need you to call the police if things get out of hand."
I shook my head and held in a smile. "You're so irresponsible, Joshy. I fricken hate you!"
"You love me, darling," he teased before signaling for me to follow him outside.
He sat down in the driver's seat and I sat next to him.
"I know this is none of my business, but I assume that you broke up with that girl-"
"Victoria? Yeah, I guess. She kind of broke up with me but-"
"Wait! What? She broke up with you?" I snorted. "Bet that boosted that ego of yours."
"Shut up, Jess. She had a good enough reason too."
"Really?"
"Yeah. If we're being honest here, I'm not exactly the best boyfriend ever-"
I bursted out laughing. "I love the awkward side of you, Joshy."
He smirked. "Really? I feel like when you're a reality star, you're expected to be a certain way and I've never felt like the 'awkward side' was acceptable, you know?"
I felt a smile form on my face. "You're perfect, Trevor. A little bit of awkward and a little bit of a chick magnet."
"I am pretty perfect," he teased.
