Author's note: the joys of watching a childhood favourite film and remembering a song you used to love. I was an epic Barbie fan as a child - but only the originals. Any one else??

Whilst Zeb, Sabine, Anakin and Ahsoka were out on small personal mission and Chopper was charging in his owners room, Hera and Kanan were in the middle of making some lunch for themselves and the youngest crew member who was bored beyong belief. As an idea came to mind, the boy called out to the clear but supposedly secret couple who didn't even stop what they were doing "yes Ezra??" Hera questioned. Hesitant to make his request, the teenager spoke up "this may sound really childish" he began, confusing the two as the fourteen year old was many things but childish??....Maybe on the very rare occasion. "But...could you both tell me a story??" he asked "maybe one that you heard from your own childhoods??" the surprised silence didn't help the boys growing anxiety; the couple paused what they were doing as they shared a look of slight confusion and surprise as the kid began to tell them to forget his ridiculous and stupid request.

Turning towards the padawan learner with soft smiles, the couple leant against the kitchen counter tops as they looked at the boy who had suddenly found his lap extremely interesting; he seemed so much younger as he usually comes across as an adult - so mature for his age due to the live he was forced to live. All thanks to the damn Empire!! But at the end of the day, Ezra was still a fourteen year old boy - he was a kid!! A kid that had been forced to live without the love and comfort of his parents; he hadn't been told a child friendly story since he was extremely young from before his mother and father had been taken away by the Imperials. Knowing and remembering this, neither of the two adults could deny the boys innocent and adorable request; the couple glanced towards one another as a special story came to mind - it was one of a kind.

Hera as the princess
Kanan as the prince

As the song came to a gentle end, Hera and Kanan found themselves sat on either side of the teenager at the table, their arms wrapped around him and one another as they shared a loving and warm embrace. "Okay" Ezra smiled brightly "that was the best story I think I have ever heard" he stated truthfully before adding that the two should tell stories more often. Chuckling, Hera stroked her fingers through the teenagers soft blue locks "tell you what??" she smiled "whenever you want to hear a story, come find us" she suggested "sound good??". Agreeing with the woman, Kanan watched as the kid nodded his head "I'd really like that" he stated; the couple parted from the embrace before returning to the kitchen counter where they resumed to making some lunch before they all sat together and ate, entering a conversation where they discussed whatever came to mind. What the pair did notice, however, was Ezra's seemingly perminant smile.
