Whilst in the training room, Ezra was practicing a multiple of new stances with his lightsaber; he had been trying to perfect a certain move but was having a large amount of trouble with it which was beginning to annoy and fustrate him. Why couldn't he just get it right?! Kanan had made it seem so easy two damn days ago!! "Uhh!!" he groaned out his build up emotions as he deactivated his lightsaber "for god sake!!" it could take it anymore!! All of a sudden, a voice spoke up "you need to be patient kid" it was Kanan "and to calm down" he added; the teenager looked over his shoulder to see his master leaning against the wall as he stood in the door frame, watching his padawan as he practiced. When had he entered the room?? Ezra didn't know.
"Yeah...sorry master" was all he said before approaching the table in the corner of the room in order to retrieve his bottle of water and towel; the man rose a brow as he sent the kid a smile "what's bothering you??" he asked, only to receive no such reply "Ez??". The teenager remained silent as he leant his hands against the table, taking a moment to compose himself before talking to his master "nothing....everything" he seemed....confused?? "I can't get this move right and if I can't do that then...." the boy fell silent as he thought the last of his sentense; Kanan, taken back by his padawan's words, spoke up "kid...it just a move and you'll learn it through practice and patience" he attempted to reassure, only to see the fourteen year old shake his head to himself.
"....This isn't just about the move...is it??" Kanan asked as he realised there had to be something else or more to what was bothering the boy; Ezra sighed as he ran a hand through his hair, a clear sign that he was stressing over something "come on kid, talk to me" the man pleaded "you know you can talk to me...right??". Ezra did know that....didn't he?? Looking down to the ground in the direction of his master - the boy couldn't bring himself to look the man in the eye - he finally spoke "I just....I don't want to fight alone anymore" he admitted, only confusing Kanan further; he needed to expand on his answer and the fourteen year old knew just how.
Now understanding what the boy meant by not wanting to fight alone, he reached out and pulled him into a tight embrace. The kid had been on his own for most of his life, surviving on the streets and doing what he had to in order to get by. Now he had a crew that he cared for but was afraid - what if he wasn't good enough?? What if he had to return to the life he once lived?? Being on his own once again. He...he wouldn't be able to handle it. Not after feeling the love and support of the ghost crew. "I know you were once alone Ezra, and for a very long time" Kanan began as he held the boy to his chest "but not anymore" he moved his arms so that he could cup the teenagers face in his hands.
Ezra stared at his master as he spoke his next words "I'll fight beside you until the very end" the man swore "as will Hera and Anakin and everyone else on this ship". Hesiantly smiling, Ezra nodded as he thanked his master "no problem my padawan" Kanan reassured as he released the boy "now go get some sleep" he ordered gently as he ruffled the teenager's hair "you've been training for hours on end". Not wanting to argue with the man, Ezra once again nodded and left for his cabin to do as he was told, after retrieving another bottle of water from the kitchen of course.
