Chapter 17 || I recon you do because of the way you look at her

• || Toby's P.O.V || •

We get into Raffaels car. I get glances of Laylani here and there. I watch her handle Aubree and she's so good with little kids. If Raffael is going to get her then he better treat her right.

I buckle my self up in the passenger Raffael starts the car and Laylani buckles Aubree up and then herself. I watch Laylani in the rear view mirror. Laylani looks up and we stare at each other before she looks away. I felt a pang in my chest when she looks away. I look out the window and Raffael drives away.

• || Laylanis P.O.V || •

I look away then look back at Toby. Does he like me ? I'll feel bad if he does. I know there's a connection there but I avoid it because my eyes are on Raffael.

Raffael drives out and Aubree looks over at me. She frowns.
"What's wrong Lay ?" She asks.
"Nothing Aub, I'm okay" I say assuring here. She gives me a sad smile and looks away.

I just wanna go home now and cuddle up with TJ.

Raffael talks away with Toby as he pulls up to my place.
"Thanks for the ride and last night Raff" I say softly. He nods and smiles. I get out waving to Aubree and give Toby and sad smile. He nods and looks away. I felt a pang in my chest. What
the ?

Raff drives away and I walk up to my house. I knock on the door and seconds later my mom answers.
"Hey mom" I say hugging her.
"Hey Hun, where did you stay last night ?" She asks.
"At a friends place" I say avoiding the actual answer by walking in.

I walk upstairs, down the hall and into my bedroom. I look on my bed to see TJ asleep. I put my bag beside my bed and walk to my ensuite. I undress and put the shower on. I brush my hair while I wait for the shower to heat up.

I get in and let the warmth settle onto my body.

• || Raffaels P.O.V || •

I watch Laylani get out off the car up to her house. I look over at Toby and he seems annoyed ? I know he likes Laylani but he knows Laylanis mine.

"Raff" Aubree says from behind me as I drive away.
"Yeah" I say.
"What's wrong with Lay ?" She asks.
"I don't know" I say.
"Are we going to see her later ?" She asks.
"Maybe" I say shrugging.
"Toby" she says.
"Yeah Aub" he says.
"Do you like Lay ?" She asks.
"I don't know" he shrugs turning around.
"I recon you do because of the way you look at her" she blurts. I frown and ignore them. Toby chuckles and looks forward again.
"Maybe Aub, maybe" he says quietly.

• || Laylanis P.O.V || •

I get out of the shower and wrap myself into a towel. I walk into my closet and search until I find a outfit.

After looking I pick out a plain grey top, a black Eskimo jacket with fur around the hoodie, white ripped jeans that come up to my shins and my grey yeezy boost 350's. I straighten my hair and put a navy blue Tommy Hilfiger hat on. I put my perfume on and kiss TJs head before walking downstairs.

I walk into the kitchen to see my mom looking through Facebook on her phone.
"Hey" I say walking over to the fridge.
"Where are you going ?" She asks.
"I'm going for a drive, finding my way around town" I say taking out a apple.
"Okay, wanna do a quicky for me while you're out ?" She asks looking up.
"Sure, what is it ?" I ask. Turning around my mom bends down from behind her and picks up a box.
"What's this ?" I ask.
"It's a gift I was suppose to give to your aunt a week ago" she says shrugging.
"What's inside ?" I ask taking it.
"A series of chocolates and little goodies for her to say Thankyou for letting me borrow a couple of dollars to help move since I'm trying to save to organise a special part of my interior designing project" she says.
"Okay" I say biting into my apple.
"Oh, I ummm am going on a date tonight so I'll be back later" I say quietly.
"Ooohh, who with ?" She says jumping.
"A friend, his name is Raffael" I say feeling the heat settle to my cheeks.
"Eeeeqqq, be home early, I wanna help you get ready" she squeals. I roll my eyes.
"Whatever" I let a little laugh and hugging her. She hugs back.
"See you later" I say walking out.
"Bye" she yells out. I walk out the door. I pull out my keys from my backpack that's sitting at the door. I jump down the steps and unlock Macie. I hop in and buckle up. I start the ignition and plug my phone into the auxiliary and put Mirror Maru by Cashmere Cat on.

I pull out and start driving to the post office.

I park my car in the given spaces behind the building I hop out grabbing my backpack and shoving my phone into my jacket pocket. I lock Macie and out the keys into my pants pocket. I walk up to the building and enter. It smells like paper in here. I walk up to the counter where a old scruffy lady is.
"Hello, how may I assist you ?" She asks.
"I would like to post" I say handing her the box.
"Absolutely, I can tell you're new, so could you sign here and here" she says smiling. I smile back and nod. I sign the spaces and hand the sheet back to her.
"Thankyou, I'll put these with the other ones, I hope to see you around" she says smiling.
"You're welcome, you too" I say smiling and walking out.

I get back to my car and unlock it. I get in and plug my phone back it and press shuffle. I start Macie and drive out.

Where to now ?

"I'll see you later Aub" I say hugging her.
"Bye Raff" Aubree says grinning. I kiss her cheek and walk back to my car to go with Toby to the Warehouse.

I get into the car and exhale. I look over at Toby.
"Ready ?" I ask.
"Yep" he says.
"Look, Toby, I know you like Laylani and all, if things don't work out with her and I, you... You can... Yeah you know" I say looking away.
"I know Raff, I just have this connection with her and.. And I can't physically or mentally avoid it, she's just... Perfect" he says quietly.
"Man, I don't know what to say. I know how you feel" I say starting the car and backing out.
"Let's just see what happens" Toby mutters.

I drive off.

I somehow want Laylani even more now.
