"When I said bloody hell I didn't think that it would actually happen!" my brother exclaims as we all stand up and look at the Edenfield of 2015. We are in the ball room, but unlike the 1890 one, this does not have two corpses in it.
"Come on, let's go to my room. We'll think about it there."
I pick up the journal and we all walk out of the ball room.
We walk in silence to the east wing.
The journal is still clenched in my arms.Dylan stops walking and looks at a door.
Ethan and Allison also stop walking and look at me, questionly.
"What's wrong?" I ask Dylan.
"I think.... that the door with the name Matthew Wulfric Knightley and this one is the same."
I look at the door Dylan is looking at and immediately look away.
"But that's Kathy's room."My brother sighs and for the first time ever, he looks like a person who has had too much to handle in too short of a time.
I close my eyes and exhale loudly.
"Lindsey, do you want to ride my new bicycle with me?"
"Yeah, yeah," I, seven year old Lindsey, say and excitedly hop onto my sister, Kathleen's, bicycle.
I open my eyes and see the familiar atmosphere around me. The few seconds of bliss I had are now gone and are replaced by hours of harsh reality.
Dylan seems to be absorbed, as well. He isn't making eye contact with anyone.
"Let's just go to your room," Allison says.
Dylan suddenly flinches like he's touched something sharp and looks directly at us.
"I'm going to my room, now. It's... er... getting late," he says and walks swiftly past us.
As much as I know, Dylan never stutters and nor does he flinch. I remember him doing that as a teenager whenever he got caught by Mum or Dad doing something he wasn't supposed to be doing or when he made invalid excuses. He stopped doing that after he became an adult, meaning after Mum, Dad and Kathleen died.
Sometimes, I wonder if we ever do grow up. Our core personalities remain the same, no matter what we do.
I was always the kind of person to enjoy being alone. At the end of the day, I'm an introvert and I'm proud to be one.
Nodding at Allison and we all walk to my room. The walk to there is silent and no one makes any noise.
We all enter my room and I sit on my bed. I take my jacket off and put it aside.
"I wonder why we all get tired by visiting the 1890 Edenfield. I mean we just stand there and observe," Allison says.
"I don't think standing and observing is what that causes us to tire so much. I think it's because of the nature of events," I suggest.
I look up at Ethan and see him looking at his phone screen skeptically.
"Mum wants me home. So, I guess I'm heading off." Ethan tucks his phone in his pocket.
"Okay," I say.
"Say hi to Auntie for me!" Allison exclaims.
Ethan waves her off, takes his bag and exits my room.
I turn to Allison and smirk,
"Don't you have some studying to do?""If you're willing to tutor me right now, so yeah."
