The next morning I woke up to the birds chirping outside my open window. Hogwarts was a peaceful place and I already knew I would enjoy it immensely.

Kenneth and Marley led us down to the Great Hall for breakfast and everyone was chatting amongst themselves about what they thought they would have first.

Being the person I was, I walked silently next to Luna and stared straight ahead. I had so far made three friends and I wasn't going to try to make more.

When we sat down at the Ravenclaw table, food had already filled the plates. I looked for a familiar cereal, maybe Fruit Loops or something but all I found was toast and scones and croissants.

"You should try this orange scone," Luna said to me. "They're quite good." I gingerly picked up said scone and took a tentative bite. It was delicious.

"This is so good!" I exclaimed in a whisper yell to her. She smiled.

The timetables had been handed out and we had Charms first. I followed the rest of my classmates to the large room and picked a seat between Cho and Luna.

The professor was a tiny man that had to stand on a pile of books to see about the classroom and had a very puffy beard.

I pointed him out to Luna and we both giggled a little too loudly. A Hufflepuff in the row behind us leaned over to shush us a loudly which caused us to erupt in another bout of giggles.

When we finally calmed down, the class commenced.

"Today class," said Professor Flitwick, "we will be focusing on the levitating charm. The wand movement is as so." He held up his wand carefully in his grasp and showed us how to swish our wand and then flick our wrist. "Swish and flick," he announced. "Please repeat."

"Swish and flick," repeated the class. We then picked up our wands and attempted to levitate the feather in front of us.

Luna got it on the first try and it took me two.

"Now class," said Flitwick, "I would like three paragraphs on the uses of the levitation charm."

                    Then we were dismissed.
