Sirius approached a log and transformed so he could sit back on it. I sat down next to him and stretched out my legs.

"I came to see you for a specific reason," he said. "When you return to England we, the good side, would like you to join the Order of the Phoenix."

"What's that?" I asked.

"It's an organization to fight off the death eaters and ultimately Voldemort," he answered.

"I'd be happy to join when I return," I said.

"Also," he started, "we would like you to stay as far away from the Malfoys as possible. Lucius is a death eater and Draco is likely to become one whether through his own will or not."

"I'll try," I said shakily.

"I'll see you when I return," he said. I hugged him goodbye and ran back up to the castle.

._______.

It had been weeks since I had last heard from anyone that I know from England. I hoped they hadn't forgotten about me. I went running every morning to take my mind off of it.

I didn't know how to fulfill the task that Sirius had given me: stay away from the Malfoys. Draco and I were kind of in a relationship although he was doing a wonderful job of ignoring me. I spent the last few months of school in utter loneliness.

I finally was contacted by the order on June 14 with not a letter but a generic flyer or handout that they had made.

It then had a picture of him on the bottom. I once again felt the shiver of loneliness. One of my best friends was gone. I went through the motions for the rest of the year. Goodbyes were short and just a blur.

The grief was overcoming my soul like a dark cloud and I refused to see the light. As soon as I got home for summer I drew all the drapes and sat in my room.

I would allow myself time to mourn for Sirius but then it would be time to get down to business.
