You And I Simply Disappear

Once Stevie and Mick got home they got ready for bed and climbed in together. Stevie lay on her back with her lamp already turned off as Mick got in on his side. She watched closely as he got in a little closer than he knew she wanted him, but she said nothing. "So, what do you think of the new guitarist?" He asked, trying to create conversation.

"He's just fucking great Mick." She spat out sarcastically.

"I think he's awesome! I bet you haven't even heard him."

"I don't care Mick! I don't see why you couldn't have just let me-"

"Really Stevie!? Are you goona start up again?"

Silence. Finally he gave up and reached over to turn off his light. "Goodnight Stevie."

He said impatiently turning over. She did the same.

"Could you pass the butter please."

She picked it up and handed it over to him across the table. She hadn't exactly started talking to him over the past few days, but at least she was cooperating. She was slowly opening back up. At least the snarky remarks had disappeared. "So Stevie..."

She looked up at him showing her attention. "John and I have to go out of town for a few days again."

"For how long?" She asked, almost sounding concerned.

"Just a few days. No longer than 3 days."

"three days? Mick, what the hell am i to do for seventy-two hours alone?"

"Are you saying you're going to miss me?"

"Of course I am Mick! I am your wife, of course I'll miss you. Just because you get on my nerves sometimes doesn't mean I don't love you, because I do."

"I know you do. And i love you too darling, but Chris will be here!" He implied

"Why?"

"It's buisness Steph, you wouldn't understand."

"Oh, of course not! You know, me; not being an experienced rockstar like you!"

"Steph, it's not like that. Please don't go and ignore me for another week, I can't bear it." He pleaded.

She felt guilty, even she was getting tired of being mad. Just forgiving him wasn't resolving any problems, but she was too exhausted to argue anymore. She smiled as he kissed her cheek before leaving the table. At least they were talking again, but she was still unsure. They still weren't they same they used to be.
