I Really Need My Friend

As soon as Stevie hung up the phone she called Chris and told her she needed to come over, and that it was an emergency. Chris got in the car and drove over immediately. As soon as Stevie heard the door she fled down the stairs and yanked open the door. "Thank you so much for coming Chris, come upstairs!"

Stevie took hold of her bestfriend's hand and drug her up the stairs. "Woah, Stevie slow down, love!"

She led Chris down to her bedroom and slammed it behind her. "Stevie what is it dear?"

She threw her arms around Chris pulling her into a tight hug. Chris hugged her back. "Stevie, what ever is the matter?"

She stared straight into Chris' face, dead serious. "Chris, I'm pregnant!"

Her mouth dropped open. "Oh my gosh Stevie that's amazing!!"

She pulled Stevie into another hug, nearly lifting her off her feet. "When did you find out, you're sure?"

"Mick and I just got back from the doctor about an hour ago. My first appointment is in a few weeks."

"I'm so happy for you two!"

"Chris..."

"Oh, you're goona have a little baby."

"Chris....!"

"A little girl, or a little boy...."

"Chris, listen to me!"

"What Stevie."

"Chris I don't know who the father is...."

Her face turned red. "You mean, it isn't Mick's?" Chris asked.

"No, I mean it could be Mick's... or Lindsey's..."

Christine turned pale in the face. "Oh Stevie..."

"I know, I'm a terrible mother already and I haven't even had the child yet, and I don't even know who their daddy is."

Stevie's hands came to her face and she started sobbing. "Oh Stevie, don't cry. You're not a bad mother." She said taking Stevie back in her arms. "But are you sure it could be either of their's?"

Stevie wiped her heeks. "Yes." She answered.

"I don't know what the hell to do! I can't leave Mick because he thinks it's his, but what if it isn't?"

She began crying again, even harder.

"Stevie I understand this is extremely upsetting, but you need to choose what's best for the baby."

"I know." She said through sobs.

"Do you love Lindsey?" She asked.

Stevie stopped shaking for a moment and thought about it. "I don't know, I think so. I mean..." She stood up properly wiping the tears from her eyes. "I have so much fun when I'm with him and he treats me so well. When I was with Mick he used to be the same way, but now it's different. Lindsey actually pays attention to me."

"Stevie... I think I see what's going on here. I don't think it's Lindsey you're in love with, I think you're using Lindsey to fill the voids that Mick used to fill."

"I'm not using him!" Stevie defended.

"No, Stevie that's not what I meant. I meant, you miss the way Mick used to be with you, so you ran to Lindsey when you felt lonely."

"Chris, I think you're right. I can't believe I ever did that to Mick, but I just, I guess I just gave up trying to gain his attention. Oh Chris, I love him so much, how could I do this!?"

"Now Stevie, don't start crying again, or I will too!"

She giggled and choked back the tears. "So what do I do now, Chris?"

"Well it's entirely your decision, but if i were you I would talk to Lindsey. If it's Mick's then you should definitely break it off with Lindsey, and if it's Lindsey's you're going to need re-evaluate you're options."

"You're right Chris. What would I do without you?"

She shrugged and smiled.
