Keep Passing Me By

A couple months passed and Stevie was starting to show. Her and Mick had went to a few appoinments since, and everything was going very well for her and the baby. Stevie had called and told Lindsey all about the appointment and hadn't heard from him since. Not very responsible behavior for someone that could possibly becoming a father. She tried not to let it bother her, and it wasn't too hard when Mick was treating her like royalty. He was taking a crazy amount of hours off from the studio. She had overheard him talking to John on the phone one night before bed, "It just really hit me this morning that I'm going to be a father. I just feel like I have to take full responsibility for now and right now, Stevie and that baby are my top priorities. As soon as the baby's born I'll consider coming in more often, but until then, I just can't..."

At least he was taking full responsibility. At times she considered telling him about her affair with Lindsey, she just felt so damn bad about it, but she couldn't! It would break his heart and he didn't deserve more pain on top of the fact of knowing his wife slept with one of his best friends, not to mention he would probably throw Lindsey out of the band, and she really didn't want that. He was way to talented to just get tossed back onto the streets. Mick may have described him as a good bartender, but she was sure that his playing was better than any alcholic beverage the greatest bartender in the world could mix for that matter.

She sat at her vanity just nearing the 12th week in her pregnancy in a pink silk nightbown just reaching below her thighs. She saw him come up behind her and put his arms around her waist in the mirror while she brushed through her hair. "How's my baby doing?" He asked.

"Which one." She grinned as she set the brush down and leaned into him.

"Both!"

"Great." She answered.

She let out a yawn. "One of them's tired, i don't know about the other, though."

"Let's get you to bed then." He said, helping her up from the bench.

He helped her in bed and turned out the lights.

The next morning he laid in bed waiting for her to wake up before getting up with her. They went downstairs and had pancakes. They BOTH ate ten! "So what are you up for today my dear Stephanie?"

"I was thinking we could go crib shopping, my dear Michael."

He laughed. "Shouldn't we wait until we find out if it's a boy or a girl first."

"Well, yeah...maybe. I just want to get a head start. I need to be ready for what it comes."

"Everything will be fine, Steph." He said taking their plates to the sink.

"Okay, fine. It's only a few more days. I can wait."

"How about we watch a film downstairs. We haven't done that in a while?" He suggested.

She agreed and they sat down in the basement for the next couple hours watching "The Sound of Music." and "The Wizard of Oz", Mick, of course; makinf fun of them the whole way through. Bty the time the witch was melting Mick had her laughing so hard she was afriad she was going to pee herself...literally. They thought it would be a good time to go find something else to do. So Mick put away the tapes and Stevie used the washroom.

They spent the rest of the day baking everything they could find in their cupboards.

It was a girl. They was estatic! Stevie did her usual after-appointment routine. Calling her mom and dad, Mick's parents, Christine and John and then Lindsey. All of them were all so happy for her. Lindsey however didn't sound as happy as she hoped he would. Maybe he was just quick to think the worst. Maybe he had already given up and thought it was Mick's. After she was done making the phone calls Mick took her out shopping for their new baby girl. "Ooh! But does it come in pink?" Was all he seemed to hear back from her.
