Chapter 2: Insanity

I woke up and the first thing I saw was the angry and worried faces of Castle and my mom. What the hell happened? I started to sit up trying to remember the last thing that happened to me.

Logan, Boxing, Training, remembering her, the flash back, coming to, and crying on the floor. It all came back in fragments but even after that I remembered what happened. I looked down at my hands expecting them to be bruised and covered in blood but all I saw were bandages. He wrapped my hands, he’s such a softy. Lost in thought I didn’t remember my mother and Castle again until they spoke to me.

“Do you want to explain to me why a man I don’t know brought you home, with bandages on your hands saying you had a flash back then passed out while you were ‘training’? What does that even mean exactly?”  Her voice was nice and calm but her eyes were ablaze. It was definitely safe to say that she was pissed.

“Well?” she said breaking through my train of thought.

I sighed and rubbed my sore hands. “Nothing happened, he was just a friend who brought me home and no there is nothing going on between us, like I said he’s just a friend.”  I started to stand.

“You’re not going anywhere; do you have any idea how worried we were? Do you know how late it is?” she gestured to the window outside, it was pitch black out there, was she out there? What was I going to do?

“Mia!” I looked up at my mother again and smiled apologetically.

“Sorry mom, I was just thinking about something’s, what did you just say?”

She sighed and brought her hand to her forehead. “I want to know who that man is, why you were training and what happened that he had to bring you home?”

I was about to answer her when Ryan and Esposito rushed in, looking relieved to see me.

“Jesus Christ thank god you found her” Ryan said looking at mom, then he turned to me. “Where were you, did you know that everyone was looking for you?”

“I know I’m sorry I was just doing some stuff-“

“What the hell happened to your hands?” Espo said cutting me off. “Did someone hurt you?”  He said, grabbing my hand.

I ripped it out of his hold, and pain shot through my hand. “Mia, sorry I didn’t mean to-“I cut off his apology with a wave of my hand.

“Don’t worry about it.” every one stared at me expecting an answer and what was I supposed to tell them? A big scary vampire lady with wings, claws and fangs has been stalking me since kindergarten trying to find new and creative ways to kill me? I mean how is someone supposed to handle something like this. Maybe if I left out the wings and fangs thing they’d get it, but still how do you tell someone that?

“Mia?” I looked up at Castle. “Just tell us what’s going on so we can help.” Help? No one can help me. How could they? They would think I’d lost my mind. Hell, even I don’t believe myself half of the time.

“Don’t worry about it everything’s fine; it’s nothing I can’t handle.” I said after a moment of thought. It was better to keep them out of this, that way at least some people I know would be able to keep their sanity.

“Handle?” mom said in disbelief, she grabbed my bandaged hand and waved it in front of my face. “You call this handling? I don’t care if you ‘have it under control’ I want to know what the hell is going on!” She yelled.

“I’ll tell you what I can okay?” they nodded in unison and I continued. “The guy, his name is Logan Ferral; he’s a friend of mine. He has been giving me boxing lessons for about a year now so I can defend myself.”
