Chapter 13: Fright Night
He rushed through the restaurant moving as fast as he could through the jungle of tables still carrying me in his arms. He leaned me against the front door and turned the handle ignoring the shouts behind us. He ran us into the street and started running in the direction of his of his car. The pain in my arm was only getting worse meaning that she was getting much closer. We were seconds away from reaching the car before I heard the evilly familiar flapping of wings and screeching of nails. We ducted to the cement and when we looked up again she was squatting on top of his car showing off her teeth and talons. Logan cursed under his breath, probably not happy about the damage she was doing to his car, and helped me to my feet then holding me snuggly to his side.
“Well lookie what we have here.” She said thoughtfully shifting her weight on the top of the car, scraping her nails across the roof.
I pulled at his shirt and he looked down at me his sword guarding both of us. I could save us, both him and I but he needed to run. He couldn’t know what I was about to do. “You need to run Logan.” And he shook his head.
“Not a chance, I took you out of camp so I need to get you back there safely. You have nothing to worry about Sweetheart; I still got some tricks up my sleeve.” He said confidently as he took a fighting position.
“No you need to listen to me, you need to leave.” I commanded, gritting my teeth. Weather it was because of the burning pain going through my shoulder or my because my gut telling me not even a bulldozer could move him
“No way, I’m not going anywhere.” He said pulling me even closer to his chest so much so that it was becoming a struggle to breath but I pushed him away.
“You stubborn ass, you need to listen to me. If you don’t leave right now you’re going to get killed. I can fight her off but you need to leave right now-“I was pushed to the ground. When I looked up again I saw the monster and Logan going at each other blow after blow. She blocked him and he blocked her. She flicked her wrist in a blind swipe just missing his jugular.
No matter how well he fought he wouldn’t win. It had to be me I was the only one who could get rid of her. I was the only one who could kill her. Logan was too good to die like this. I let my rage fill me, letting it spill out of every pore creating my maroon aurora. I got up from the ground feeling my power flow with in me. I looked up and saw him fighting her he was getting tiered and she had a wicked smile on her face. She knew she couldn’t die and she was enjoying every bit of the fight she knew he could never win. Well, she wouldn’t win today. “MONSTER!” I roared and her head turned and she laughed at my appearance, only fueling my rage.
“Well finally, I didn’t think I’d get the pleasure of fighting you in your true form.” I didn’t answer, only continued walking towards her. I was maroon glowing girl with fields of red and maroon swimming in the air around me. Who in their right mind would mess with me?
She ignored Logan leaving him leaning and panting against his car. I could see the rage in his eyes. He hated that he couldn’t win and more than that he hated being ignored but this wasn’t his fight, it was mine.
She moved quickly lunging at me with her nails in front of her aiming to pierce my lungs. I grabbed my knife that had somehow teleported to my side and blocked her attack shoving her off my blade with enough force to crash her into a large S.U.V across the street. She stayed there on her hands and knees and I would have thought she was done…that is until she started laughing evilly…again. “Well I’m a little disappointed, I thought it would have taken more to make you lose every shed of self-control but I guess I just had to threaten your boyfriend.” She stood up and lengthened her nails to the length of full swords. “You should just surrender, and your death will be your painless.” She smirked. “And don’t worry about Logan; I’ll take really, really good care of him.”
