Chapter 5: Hell of an Entrance

“How much longer?” We’d been driving for about an hour and a half and I was starting to feel antsy. She was close. I don’t know where she is but I could feel her watching me and being trapped in this ridiculously expensive car was not helping.

“Not far now, why?” I shrugged and looked out the window it was starting to rain. “Hey you can be pissed at me all you want but if you are….getting a feeling of some kind you need to tell me.”

“She’s here.” I said without turning but I swear I could feel his muscles tense, maybe he could feel it too.

“Do you see her?”

“No, she’s here I don’t know where, but she’s really close.” He sighed and nodded. I felt it when he hit the accelerator. “Do you have the feeling too?”

“A little but since she’s after you, you’ll probably feel it more.” There was silence in the car. No one knew what to say. We both looked primarily forward but turned to look around every minute or so. The sound of rain hitting the window had sounded relaxing at first but now it just seemed evil, like it was leading up to something, like the climax in the horror movie.

“What can we do?” I looked over at him but he kept his eyes forward and alert.

“We don’t stop.” Once again there was a silence but much longer than the first. Shouldn’t we do something? We are bait in the middle of nowhere, we are utterly screwed. Who the hell would help us out here? There’s no one around.

“Tell me about your parent, the god one. Who is it?” I said suddenly

He was silent before he answered. “Hades, my dad is hades.”

“Oh Hades, god of death. Huh, I bet the holidays are fun.” I sound like a moron, but it’s better than waiting to die.

He let out a laugh. “You have no idea.” Pause.” You trying to distract yourself?”

“Yep and it would work too if you didn’t point it out.” He laughed quietly and nodded. “Do you know who my dad is?” he was silent for a long time before he replied.

“No, I’m not sure who your dad is. It could be any of them, but as long as it’s not Hades or Zeus I don’t care which one.”

“Why not Zeus?”

“Well, Zeus and Hades don’t really get on that well. So children of Zeus and Hades don’t get along that well. But me personally, I prefer to hate people on a more personal level.”

“Oh god please tell me you didn’t do something stupid.” It took a lot to make Logan truly hate you. He wasn’t one of those people who you love you as soon as you meet them. He more of the ‘I don’t give a crap who you are, just leave me the hell alone’ people. You really didn’t want him to hate you. I’d seen it up close and personal and it wasn’t pretty.

“You know me.” He laughed

“Exactly, that’s why I’m asking.”

“He’s a pompous prick who thinks he’s better than everyone else because of who his daddy is. He’s a snot nose kid, a son of Zeus, and a Roman I don’t need any more reasons to hate him.”

“What did he do to make you hate him?” The car drifted into an awkward silence before he spoke again.

“It’s complicated.” And ladies and gentlemen there it is. Nicks go to reply for ‘drop it’. I hear it at least twice a day so you should probably get used to seeing it.

“You said Hades too, what you don’t think I’m good enough to be your sister?” I saw a smirk play on his lips before he spoke.

“That could be a reason, but I was thinking of another one. “ He glanced at me that smirk still evident on his face when he turned back. Oh my god his reason can’t be the reason I’m thinking of could it? I mean that would mean that he sort of, kind of, might possibly consider liking me. Holy crap! How do I feel about this? Good or bad? Crap I don’t know. “Why so quiet?” he purred. He was looking right at me his eyes soft and amused.
