Cassi POV
It was like a volcano had erupted. My fathers face turned a bright red colour, his eyes bulging. Next second, he ran from the room and out into the forest outside the back of the house.
I tried extremely hard to hold in my laughter, but Garreth caught my eye and we both started to chuckle. His mate looked at us like we were nuts, and I guess to her it would look that way. Father Dearest wasn't exactly a fluffy teddy bear after all. She started to back away out of the room. Bad move.
Garreth quickly grabbed her wrist and pulled her into his chest. He couldn't control himself yet around her, so it was only natural to worry when they were to be parted. He ran a hand comfortingly up and down her arm, trying to sooth her erratic emotions.
By now, the rest of the gang had caught up, followed by an irate Darren. He was still scowling from the revelation Valarie would be joining us. Matt and Daniel sauntered in like they owned the place, eyes never lingering on one spot to long. I bet they had already worked out the worth of everything in the room. You see most of the gang had a rather dark past. Matt and Dan had been a pair of professional thieves before they joined the Lions. They were only kids, but they were extremely talented at their "job". It was the only way for them to make money for their sister Louise.
They looked over at Val and Garreth and opened their mouths, probably to make some cheap shot about the poor girl being a wimp. She was acting like a damsel in distress, but there was no need to upset her further. With a quick glare I shut them up.
Then, I faced Darren.
