Chapter 5 ~ Talk
* Macy's POV *
I wasn't grounded. I would think after the damage I would be murdered. Or at least grounded. I was just given a guestroom to stay in. I wasn't even punished by silence. The family talked to me usually; Dad was weary with guilt ridden eyes. He offered to take me shopping for furniture with a careful, strained voice. I agreed, but made sure Grandma came with me.
Now, I sat in my renovated room with a guilt ridden heart. I did this for the last 3 days. I sighed, and traced my nimble fingertips along the new duvet. I wasn't even scolded at, I mused.
There was a knock at the door.
"Come in," I called out. The door opened slowly, Elijah and Avery strolled in.
"Still sulking?" Eli teased. He smirked at my slouched posture.
"Well hello to you too Elijah," I retaliated sarcastically. "Oh and hey Avery."
"Hello Macy. Feeling any better?" She asked. She let go of Elijah's hand and sat herself beside me.
"Not really," I admitted. "But that doesn't matter. How are you finding the Cullen residence?" Avery clicked her tongue and shifted her leg position.
"Everyone is so nice. Though I haven't spoken to Max yet," Avery mused.
"I think you should give that a while," Elijah advised. He sat on the opposite side of me, but didn't let his eyes stray from his girlfriend.
"Especially with my little..." I trailed.
"You don't actually hate him, right?" Avery asked.
"Not really," I mumbled. "I was angry."
"More than you needed to be. I swear you would've broken your hand if Grandad had given you 10 more seconds," Elijah added. I ignored him, he had mentioned it more than once.
I looked down at my healed hands. Instead of a caste, my hands were bandaged securely for the first three days. There was the everlasting teasing.
"Dad told me that Mom broke her arm three times. The right one being twice," I said with the shopping trip in mind.
"How?" He asked curiously. I smiled, he was very much like me and would jump at chance to learn more about Mom.
"He didn't say how. He promised that he'll tell us the story one day," I paused. "It's a start, isn't it?"
"It is," Eli agreed smiling back.
"Enough about my hissy fit. What I've been dying to ask is how did you two meet? I know that my brother won't just pick up a girl. How long have you known each other?" I interrogated. I crossed my arms over my chest and maneuvered to the centre of the mattress so I could look at them simultaneously.
Elijah scrunched his lips; Avery tilted her head to the side in thought. "Remember when I had that argument with Dad about not being allowed to mingle with humans?"
I casted my mind back. It was easy: thanks to my vampire chromosome. "Yeah, after Aunt Ness took me shopping at the crack of dawn."
"Shopping at that time?" Avery asked.
I shrugged. "She'll take you at that time too. Trust me."
"Well I left and I saw Avery running. She was tired but she kept on running. She ran until she tripped over a tree root that jutted out dangerously. I approached her. I helped her up and I felt something," Elijah explained softly. Avery gave him a tender look. Their eyes shared secrets and memoirs of their time together. It made me feel jealous until I remembered my encounter with my mystery boy.
