I'm so tempted to skip over chapter 7, like seriously! It probably wouldn't affect the overall outcome of the story anyway! I apologize in advance if this chapter is super boring. BUT DON'T WORRY! NEXT CHAPTER IS WHEN THINGS START TO HAPPEN!

Okay I think I have block.... ugh.

*thinks* Ooh this might work....

Chapter 7 ~ Budding

* Elijah's POV *

"Are you sure you want me to do this?" Avery asked hesitatingly.

"I'm completely sure. The only person that can get hurt is me," I assured calmly. I gave her an easy smile to show that I would be okay. She, however, grimaced. "You don't need to worry about me either. I'll be fine, my Dad and my Mom did this."

"Okay. But if you get hurt - " she started.

"Which I won't," I intervened. She rolled her eyes but continued.

"If you get hurt you tell me right away," she ordered. Mockingly, I saluted her.

"Yes Ma'am," I teased. An amused grin graced her lips making her look nothing less than undeniably beautiful. A tendril of her hair fell over her eyes. Out of habit, I brushed it away, letting my hand linger on her cheek.

"Wow you two are so sweet I'm scared my teeth will rot," a voice remarked. I rolled my eyes at my sister, pulling my gaze towards her. She smirked at me, finally - I must add - in her gear.

"Unless you had your soulmate you wouldn't know what it's like," I pointed out. She scrunched up her lips and shrugged.

"Oh but I do know," she mused. I arched an eyebrow at her. "So are you two going to stare lovingly at each other or actually have a go?"

"We're getting to it, plus this place just opened. We have plenty of time," Avery answered.

"Well time flies when you are having fun," Macy teased before giving a cheeky wink. I rolled my eyes at her. She's so Macy. She walked off to the bikes and I just knew she would take just about forever choosing which one to use.

I turned back to Avery who was smiling at Macy. "If I don't know any better, I'd say things are looking up," she commented.

"That's because they are."

"Long, long ago when dinosaurs roamed the Earth... your Dad finally asked Amelia out. Like seriously, together for what? Two months? And not a single date! Man, if I was your Mother I would've dumped his sorry butt a long, long time ago," Grandpa mocked.

"We already know that Dad took about forever! We're on the part after Dad decides to marry Mom. What was the proposal?" Macy questioned. "You know I can't help but think, if Mom was here, she would've shut your mouth."

"Okay, jeez woman! Just like Amelia, but thank goodness you can't shut me up!"

"But you said yourself: 'I miss her power to shut me up'," Avery reminded. Grandpa threw a reading glare at her; she smiled innocently. He turned his gaze towards me.

"Your girlfriend is such a smartass. Honestly, I have enough from your sister, but your mate as well? She should not he treating her elders that way," he complained. I rolled my eyes at his immaturity.

"It's kind of hard not being a smartass around you," I remarked. He gave me a tearful expression like he had just been told off from his mother after stealing a cookie.

"Rose! Max! They're bullying me!"

"Hush Em. They're just playing, it's great to see them having a good time," Grandma said. Grandpa scrunched up his face.

"Fine. But I'm not continuing the story. Max, the floor is all yours."

Dad didn't respond. I doubted that he was actually listening. In a hunched position, he looked down at his palms. I wanted to know what he was thinking about. The past, present or future? I could tell it was hard. He found it hard to look at me, but he still did. And his eyes weren't rueful.

Grandpa picked up a stray magazine and flicked it to my Dad's head. He looked up. "Look who decided to join the world of the living," Grandpa teased. He turned to Avery, Macy and I and gave us each a stern look. "Don't any of you dare mention that I'm a vampire thus dead."

Macy smirked. "Ah man! Read my mind," she teased.

"It is a gift. Now, Max son, share how you proposed," he ordered. I expected some sort of groan or sigh to leave my Father, but he nodded. Habitually, he ran his hand over his face. I could tell he didn't really want to recall what happened but he still did.

"I didn't want to do the basic take out on a date and propose thing. I wanted to show that even after everything I wouldn't be able love something or someone more than her." Dad's voice cracked slightly. "So I set her on a little adventure, the whole family was involved. From our house back in Juneau all the way until our meadow she walked along a trail and met every family member. It was memory lane, every stop was something we went through until she saw me.

"She looked like she was going to cry. She thought I was going to break up with her. I got the message in the sky, by a plane. She stood in shock before she pushed me over, but then she said yes."

"Awww," Macy cooed silently.

"Why did she push you over?" I asked.

"I told her I didn't want to be her boyfriend anymore. She didn't like the scare," Dad explained lowly.

"It was all very cute," Grandpa agreed. Everyone gave him a baffled expression. "Okay, I know I'm bad but guys that's just mean."

"This is such a pretty sunset," Macy fawned. She turned to us apologetically. "Sorry, for ruining your date."

"You're not ruining anything Macy. C'mon, sit down with us," Avery welcomed. Macy looked at me for permission; I nodded at her. She strolled towards us and sat herself next to me.

We sat in silence. I could tell that Macy wanted to say something, the way she fidgeted and glanced at the two of us made it very clear.

"Spit it out Macy," I told her.

"Spit what out?" She retaliated in fake confusion.

"Grandpa is right, you are a crummy actress," I teased.

"Hey! Leave me alone. I want to watch this sunset!" She denied. I rolled my eyes at her.

"C'mon Macy. Even I can tell that you want to say something," Avery prompted. Macy sighed in defeat.

"Okay. Is it nice?" She asked. I furrowed my eyebrows.

"Is what nice?" I inquired.

"You know. Being in..." Macy coughs. "Love." She coughs again.

"Awww Macy, did you really just ask that?" Avery questioned.

"Yes and I am not asking that again."

I turned to Avery and looked into her entrancing eyes. The answer was clear. I nodded. "Yes, yes it is."

Nothing could beat the contentment I felt when I was with Avery. Even if it was in silence. "Don't worry Macy, you'll find him one day." I assured.

She nodded and looked down. She looked back up and I could tell she was hiding something. I raised my eyebrow signalling that I knew she wanted to say more. She shook her head.

"One day Elijah," she whispered before looking back at the horizon.

*~*~*~*~*~*

Again. I suck. I'm so sorry. Forgive me. I've just had quite a day...

NEXT UPLOAD: Give me five days? The next chapter is quite interesting and I don't have block for it.

Is it easy to give up on someone that means a lot to you?

Ciao ~ Ami xD
