"Baby, they are just shoes," Jayceon pleaded to his girlfriend. "No they are not just shoes they are CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTINS! They cost a fortune, babe."

"Trust me bae, I can afford it," he said walking towards me.

"Is that what you think I am worked up about Jay?" I said looking at him.

"Babe I honestly don't kn-" I interrupted him, "I'm gonna just go. I'll talk to you later."

The past couple of days have consisted of Jayceon trying to figure me out and me just trying to avoid him basically. I really care about Jayceon, but I don't want to be THAT girlfriend with a rapper boyfriend that buys her expensive gifts all the time.

Of course I want to be treated right and given gifts but I don't want to be the girl that from the outside seems dependent on her rich boyfriend.

I have worked hard to pay my way through medical school and be able to live on my own. I know it may seem like I may be blowing this out of proportion but I am looking at the bigger picture.

I had a previous boyfriend that I was dependent on for years. He treated me well, but when we went our separate ways I was left with nothing. I do not want Jay to feel like I am dependent on him. Does that make sense?

I may be overanalyzing the situation I just get very nervous when men try to treat me well. Up until my most recent relationship, the me- BOYS I was dating were emotionally, verbally and sometimes even physically abusive.

Jayceon buying the shoes for me in the early stages of our relationship really scared me. He definitely deserves an explanation. As I'm driving to his house all I can think about is what he is going to say.

I pulled into his drive way and started pacing back and worth debating on when or IF I was going to ring his door bell. I just do it. Fast and get it over with.

"I'm sorry," I say a little loud his reply was simple: just a smile. "What Jay?" I say with a bit of whining.

"I'm smiling because I knew you would come and talk to me, babe," he said embracing me in his arms.

I push him off a little bit, "Before that, I actually want to talk to you and tell you why I was acti-"

A beautiful four year old pulled on his pants leg, "Daddy come on you are missing the movie."

I was so shocked. He had told me about his kids but our relationship was in its preliminary stages and I hadn't planned on meeting them so soon. Jay motioned for me to come in.

He picked Miss Cali Dream up and put her on his hip, "Cali, I want you to meet some one very special to daddy. Okay?" she nodded. "This is Miss. Aaliyah. Miss Aaliyah is daddy's very special friend."

"Harlem! Justice! Come here please." Nine year old Justice followed eleven year old Harlem around the corner. "Harlem, Justice this is Miss Aaliyah, my speci-"

"Dad, we know who she is." Justice said with Harlem cosigning with a nod. "You are very beautiful and my dad doesn't stop talking about you," Harlem said looking towards me.

"Okay big head," Jay said to Harlem, "that's enough." Harlem just rolled his eyes playfully.

"Miss Aaliyah wan' watch movie wit us?" Cali asked her dad. "Well that is up to Miss Aaliyah," he said looking at me with big dopey eyes. "What do you say?"

"Let's go!" I said placing my hands on both Justice and Harlem's shoulders.
