Alex made it back to school. He told me that he went to visit his great-grandmother in New York and his flight got cancelled. It was lunch time and everyone was sitting at our circular table, talking about different things.

"Hey, Jordan. Would ya like to go out sometime this week with me?" Alex says, breaking the silence between the two of us. I'm in awe. Is he asking me on a date?

"Uh... Yeah, that sounds cool. When are you thinking of going out on?"

"Is Friday night okay for ya?"

"Yeah, I have nothing better to do." We smile at each other.

"That's what I thought. I didn't expect you to be much of an active person." I start laughing.

"Wow, Alex! I wasn't expecting this fancy of a place to go to on a first da-" I cut myself off. He hasn't said it's a first date yet so I'm guessing it's not, right now.

We're sitting at a table for 2.
I have on a pair of tight, white jeans and a nice, pink blouse. On my feet are black, 2 inch high heels. I straightened my hair instead of letting my natural curls flow.
Alex is wearing a nice, blue dress shirt, a pair of black dress pants, and a pair of nice black dress shoes. He's wearing his hair like he always does and has his pair of black glasses on.

"It's okay. You can call this whatever you want to call it. First date. Eatin' a fancy meal with a friend. Anythin'," Alex responds to my unfinished answer.

"Okay, Alex. This eating-a-fancy-meal-with-a-gorgeous-friend is just fantastic." I sarcastically say. He laughs at my dry humor.

"What would you like to drink?" The waiter, Simon, asks us.

"Well, because we're under the age of 21, I would just like a water," He says to Simon. I start laughing a little under my breath.

"I would like water, too, Simon," I say. The waiter walks off with our orders. Silence falls between us.

"I really don't know what to talk 'bout. I know ya pretty well and you know me pretty well, also," Alex says. We started laughing.

"I don't know, either. What do we talk 'bout?" I say. We think about that question for a while. Trying to come up with an answer to it.

"Ah! What do you do with your free time, Alex?" I ask him. Simon comes back to give us our water and leaves.

"Well, I... Um... I hang out with my friends and go to almost every athletic thing at the high school. I, also, this may sound weird but, I like to solve math problems at home and other places than school," Alex says.

"No, that's not weird. You just really like math. I really like to read and write. I'm just really bad at math. Why can't their be multiple answers?" Alex tries to say something but, gives up.

"What?" I ask.

"Some problems can have multiple answers like parabolas have two x values," he says. Once he says it, I remember that from Algebra II.

"Well, you can tell that I don't remember stuff that well." We both start laughing. Simon comes back.

"Would you two like to order now?" Simon asks. Oh, shoot! I haven't even taken a look at the menu. While Alex rambles off what he wants, I frantically look over the menu. They both start laughing a bit.

"Jordan, I'm gettin' the chef's special which is a really good chicken parmesan. Would ya like that?" I nod my head and give Simon the menu back. Simon goes off to the kitchen. I'm so bad at first dates. My hands are sweating. I'm so nervous. Alex, looks so relaxed and looks like a natural.

"Calm down, Jordan. I can tell and everyone else can tell your nervous. Don't be. Don't think of this as a first date," Alex says, his eyes staring straight into mine. Silence falls between us.

I start to relax a little when he asks, "So, what do you do in your free time, Miss. Jordan?" I smile so wide my mouth starts to hurt.

"I really like to read and write, like I said before. But, I like going to Starbucks and hanging out with my little sister, Alice. I, also, like to watch movie marathons and sit on a couch with popcorn on my lap. I'm pretty simplistic," I say.

"I'll keep that in mind," he says. Then, Simon comes back with our food.

"You were so nervous tonight. Why?" Alex asks. I'm in his truck with him. He's driving and I'm sitting right next to him. His truck is a little, banged-up, grey truck. It doesn't have air-conditioning but it does have a radio in it. He told me he just installed last weekend.

"I don't know. I just haven't gone on a first date in a while." I say.

"Me, neither." Alex says. We make it to my house, laughing about something Alex said.

"Bye, Alex," I say as I get out of the car. I start walking away from his car. I don't walk that far until I feel a tug on my right arm. I turn around to see Alex standing behind me.

"Let me have the pleasure of walkin' ya to your front door," he says. I take his hand and I feel sweat on his hand. Now he's nervous.

"Calm down, Alex. I can tell and everyone else can tell your nervous. Don't be. Don't think of this as a first date," I recite from earlier on in the night. He smiles. I stand in front of my front door. I turn to him.

"So, this is it?" I ask him.

"Nope," he says. And that's when we kissed each other for the first time. His hands on my waist and mine on his neck. My body pressed against his. I start to blush a little until a little girl opens the front door.

"What the heck do you think your doing with my older sister, Mr. Boyfriend?" Alice asks, anger rising in her voice. We break apart so fast that makes Alice smile for a couple seconds.

"Um... We're... Uh... I'm... Um," Alex stutters.

"Well, I swore I saw some little romance goin' on on my front porch. Is that true?" Alice asks, I roll my eyes.

"Yeah, Alice. Yeah you did and your not going to say a word to mom or else..." I say. She leaves as quickly as she can from the scene that she leaves the door open. We turn towards each other. He's cheeks are bright red.

"I've been wantin' to ask ya this since I met ya but, ah... Would ya... Ah... Like to be my girlfriend? I'm single, I swear," he says. I start to laugh a bit. Then, I start blushing a lot.

"Yeah, I would like to be your girlfriend because I'm single, too. What a coincidence," I say. And that's how Alex and I's little romance began.
