The bell rings and she sits up and looks at me.
"It's time to go... So...." I say, standing up slowly from the bench. She wipes her tears, grabs her backpack, and stands up from the bench. We start walking to the school. Her hand, slowly, makes it's way to mine as we walk.
Once we're holding hands, she says, "Thanks for understanding. I'm sorry if I'm making you feel uncomfortable."
I shake my head no and say, "Your fine. We all have dark pasts here. Some darker than others."
She looks at my strangely and asks, "How dark is yours?"
I smile down at her, "You'll just have to figure that out on your own later in time." She looks away from my glance, almost as if she was trying to figure out my mysterious past. It's too dark for her to comprehend. She wouldn't be able to guess what went on in my life before now. Sometimes, I wish that those things hadn't happened to me. Sometimes, I convince myself that they haven't happened to me. But, they have.

We step inside South Atlanta High. Everyone going in different directions. Students, teachers, principals, janitors, counselors, etc.
"Woah," she says under her breath. She lets go of my hand. I wish she didn't. Her hand fit so perfectly in mine. It was so warm, almost sweating, which made my heart flutter a bit. Stop being romantic, Alex! No one cares!
Cass, Eddy, Laney, and Izzy are clearly gone by now. So helpful. So, I tell Jordan to follow me to the Administration office. As we walk in, Mrs. Williams, the receptionist, greets me.
"Hey, Mr. Green! How's it goin'?" We both walk up to her desk.
"Great, Mrs. Williams. I have a new student here with me. Jordan... Ah..." I say, looking at Jordan so she could help me out with her last name.
"Weaver. Jordan Weaver," she says, smiling at Mrs. Williams. Mrs. Williams starts typing something on her keyboard and starts searching for something on the computer screen.
"Ah! Jordan Weaver. Senior, correct?" Mrs. Williams says, not taking her eyes off the computer screen.
"Yes, ma'am," Jordan says, nodding her head. Mrs. Williams pauses for a moment.
"Mr. Green, could you please pick up the paper I just printed for Miss. Weaver from the printer over their?" Mrs. Williams asks me, pointing to the printer on her right and looking up at me. I nod my head, grab the paper, and hand it to Jordan. I walk behind Jordan and show her what everything meant on the newly printed piece of paper.
"So, some of your classes from your old school have transferred over here so you don't have to re-take those classes here. But, you still need six more high school credits to graduate. One English credit, half of a Personal Finance credit, one Math credit, half of a PE credit, one Foreign Language credit, half of a Practical Arts credit, one Elective credit, and half of a Fine Arts credit. And you're so lucky 'cuz we only teach here for 7 hours so you'll be able to graduate," I say.
"So, how do I pick which classes I want to take?" She asks me. I take her to an empty room in the Admin office. We both take a seat once I grab the 70-paged Course Catalog which sat on the long black table.
I flip to the fifteenth page and say, "From page fifteen to page twenty, it shows you all the courses you can take. From page twenty-one to page seventy, it describes those classes in great detail." I grab a highlighter and we highlight classes she wants to take and, then, we narrow it down to seven courses.

This takes us until the end of third hour. So, she is taking: Advanced English Language Arts 12, College Algebra, AP Physics 2, Personal Finance, Weight Training, Interior Design, Digital Photography, Spanish 3, and Journalism. We give the list to Mrs. Williams once we are done.
"Okay. This will take me some time to put together so, Alexander, what class are you going to go to in fourth hour?" Mrs. Williams asks.
"Umm... English," I say.
"Regular or advanced?"
"Advanced with Dr. Simms," I reply. Mrs. Williams nods her head.
"I will make sure Miss. Weaver has English with you so, you two can go to English, right now," I smile and thank Mrs. Williams, "And, Miss. Weaver, I'll give you your schedule for the year durin' lunch today. Have a great rest of your day, Alexander and Jordan!" We walk out the doors of the Administration office.

We start heading to Dr. Simms' 12th grade Advanced English class. I love his class. It's one of my favorites.
"So, are you in all advanced courses, Alex," Jordan asks me, once we're quite a ways away from the Administration office. I nod my head yes as she takes her left hand into my right hand. Goosebumps start to raise on my arms. I stare straight ahead, afraid of blushing if I looked into her bright blue eyes. Silence falls between us.
Then, I ask her, "So, how do you like the school so far?"
"I think it's pretty cool but, I only really know one student, Alexander Green," she says. I catch her smiling and laughing out of the corner of my eye.
"Okay, Jordan Weaver," I say, laughing with her.
Our full names are weird and when Mrs. Williams calls you Alexander and Mr. Green, it definitely gets more weird.
