Saving us from ourselves

Maddie's POV

"Andrea,  hurry up! We're going to the mall," I yell across the apartment, "we're going to be late!" "Maddie, I just need to put my hair in a bun.  Calm down!" Andrea quickly made a messy bun, then we got in my car.

Once we got to the mall, we went to the food court to meet our friends.  As usual, I glance around, looking at the different people here. Out of the corner of my eye, I spot someone I easily recognize.

"Andi," I say excitedly, "look to your right. I'm pretty sure I see Dan and Phil." Andrea looked over and had a total fangirl moment. "Maddie!" Andrea shrieked, "it's them! It's Dan and Phil!"

I take Andrea by the arm and start to walk towards Dan and Phil. "Maddie, what are you doing?" Andrea asked, completely shocked, because I'm a very shy person. "I'm going to talk to them," I tell her as calmly as I can manage.

I get to their table, take a breath, and say, "Hi. I'm Maddie. This is Andrea." Phil looks into my eyes. I almost fangirl, "Hi. I'm Phil. This is Dan." Phil puts his hand out and offers a handshake. Dan invites us to sit down.

"I'm a huge fan," I say, "I've been watching since I was 13." I was sitting next to Phil, Andrea next to Dan. We all sit and talk for twenty minutes until my phone goes off and Kaeli texts, asking where we are.

Before we leave, Phil and I exchange numbers while Dan and Andrea exchange numbers. Once I get my phone back in my pocket, Phil takes my hands in his. "It was really nice to meet you, Maddie," Phil says, "we should hang out again. Maybe we could go on a date." My mind went wild. OH MY GOSH! THE AMAZINGPHIL ASKED ME ON A DATE! OH MY GOSH!  I look up at Phil, "Yeah. I would love to go on a date with you, Phil."

As soon as I said his name, Phil leaned down and kissed me. This took me by surprise, but I kissed him back. Phil let go of my hands and wrapped his hands around my waist, pulling me closer.

When he pulled away, Phil looked down at me and smiled his adorable smile. I looked up at him and smiled back. I glance to my left, and Dan is kissing Andrea. Dan pulls away, and Andrea blushes a lot.

Andrea walks to me, me and we say our goodbyes, and go to meet Kaeli. We found her a few minutes later outside the anime store. "What took you two so long?" Kaeli asks us. "Sorry," Andrea says, "we just ran into Dan and Phil." Kaeli looked at us as if we were insane, "You're kidding. What's the real reason?" I glance down at my feet before looking back towards Kaeli, "Kaeli, we DID see Dan and Phil. We aren't joking." Kaeli looked at us as if we were aliens, "You did not." "Yes we did," Andrea and I say in unison. Kaeli sighed and shook her head.

We started walking into the anime store. I find a DEATHNOTE t-shirt that I like. Just as I take the shirt off the shelf, my phone goes off.

PHIL- Hey. Are you sticking around the mall for a while?

I show my phone to Andrea and ask how long we are staying.

MADDIE- Hey. We will be here for a few hours yet. Why?

PHIL- What store are you at? Dan and I can meet you there.

MADDIE- We are at the anime shop right now. Could you meet us in about five minutes? We will still be here.

PHIL- Ok. See you soon <3

I show Andrea the last message from Phil. I fangirl a little at the text, but Andrea helps me to calm down before Dan and Phil came to meet us. I smile at Andrea and tell her, "maybe Kaeli will finally believe us." "I sure hope so," Andres agrees with me. I take the DEATHNOTE shirt and look around for more DEATHNOTE merchandise.

As I'm looking at another DEATHNOTE t-shirt, someone taps me on the shoulder. I jump and turn around. It's Phil. "Phil!" I exclaim, "you scared me!" Phil laughed a little bit, "Sorry, Maddie. I didn't mean to scare you." He kissed me on the cheek.

Phil noticed the DEATHNOTE merchandise I was holding. "You watch DEATHNOTE?" "Yes. DEATHNOTE is amazing. Andi got me to start watching it a while back." Phil smiled, "DEATHNOTE is pretty cool. I watch it sometimes."

Phil took my hands in his once again, looked me in the eyes, and said, "Maddie, do you maybe want to be my girlfriend?" There was a sparkle in his eyes as he said this. I looked up at Phil and said, "Of course, Phil! Yes! I would love to be your girlfriend!"

 Andrea walks up to us with Dan at her side. Once we are in a group of four, we go to find Kaeli in the store. I was the first one to spot her by the Black Butler merchandise. "Kaeli,"  Andi says, "I told you so." Kaeli turns around to see me, Andrea, Dan, and Phil. Kaeli totally fangirls then hugs both Dan and Phil.

Once Kaeli lets go of Phil, he slips his hand into mine. Kaeli notices this and jumps up, "Wait! you two? You're dating? Phil and Maddie?" I look at kaeli and shyly reply, "Uh. Yeah. We are dating. Me and Phil." Phil pulled me closer closer and put his arm around my shoulder. Dan pulled Andrea closer, "Wait! You too? Why didn't anyone tell me?" Kaeli was freaking out now. "Kaeli," I explain, "Andi and I tried to tell you, but you wouldn't believe us." Kaeli put her head down and sighed, "I'm so happy for you all! Congratulations on your relationships!"

After everyone met, we made our way to the checkout aisle. While the cashier was ringing up my few items, Phil takes out his wallet. "Here, I'll pay for you." I put my hand on top of Phil's, "Phil, you're not going to pay. I can handle it." "$30.00," the cashier says. Phil takes $30 out of his wallet and hands it to the cashier. She handed me the bag. Phil slipped his hand into mine, and we walked  out of the store and sat on a bench, waiting for everyone else. I take my hand away from Phil, reach into my purse, and grab my wallet to pay him back. Phil stops me by gently turning my face towards him, and kissing me. I almost instantly drop my money and wrap my arms around his neck.

Phil smiles during our kiss, which makes me giggle. Phil slowly pulls away and smiles at me. He looks past me, "Look, there they are." I close my purse and Phil helps me up. WOW! WHAT A GENTLEMAN, I think. I stand up and he takes my hand again. I could not believe that after having just met Phil, I was dating him.

My thoughts were interrupted when Andi and Kaeli started gushing over my kiss with Phil, because they had seen the whole thing. "Damn, Maddie," Kaeli said, "you two really get along well, huh?" Phil is still holding my hand as I reply, "I guess there was a spark right away with us." Phil squeezes my hand and I look up at him. He smiles down at me, and I blush as he kisses my forehead.

We all decide to go sit at a table in the food court. I got up early, and I was tired, so when we sat down, I rested my head on Phil's shoulder. He wrapped his arm around me at the same time Dan wrapped his arm around Andi.

I saw Andi blush. She looked up at Dan and smiled. "Andrea," Dan said, "you are super cute when you smile." She smiled some more, "You can call me Andi if you want. And thanks, Dan." "Of course, Andi."
