Saving us from ourselves

Dan's POV

I told Andi I love her. I got Phil to tell Maddie he loves her. I'm going for ice cream with Andi. I just met Andi today.

Andi and I are walking to the ice cream shop. Once we get there, Andi looks at the menu for literally two seconds before deciding what she was going to get. She looked up at me and asked, "Dan, what are you getting?"

"I'll get whatever you have."

"Dan, you don't have to do the same as me."

"I know, but I want to."

"Fine. Then I hope you like chocolate shakes."

We walk to the counter at the front of the shop. "Hi. What can I get for you two today?"

"Two chocolate shakes, please."

"That would be $6.47."

I take a ten dollar bill out of my pocket and hand it to the cashier. She hands me my change, and I put it back in my wallet.

I take Andi to the corner of the shop to wait for our shakes. We start to talk.

"Andi, do you consider this a date?"

"Yeah. I mean it's just us here now, so technically it's a date. Or do you think it's not?"

"I think it is. Now I can say I've had my first date with an angel."

Andi started to turn red at this. "Dan," she said, starting to giggle, "that's so sweet."

"Two chocolate shakes," a worker called. I took Andi's hand and we walked to get our shakes. Shakes in our hands, we walked to a table just outside the shop.

Sitting across form her, I took Andi's hand in mine, and looked into her eyes. I watched as she took a sip of her shake. She noticed me looking at her.

"Dan," Andi began her question, "why are you staring at me?"

I laugh nervously, "Because you're beautiful."

Andi laughed. "Dan. What's the real reason you're staring at me?"

"Andi, I told you. I'm staring at you because you are so beautiful. I'm not lying to you."

"Fine, Dan. I believe you."

We finished our shakes just talking, but not about why I was looking at her.
