Phil told me he loves me. I could not believe it. I love him, though, so I had to tell him that I love him too. I found it extremely adorable that after telling each other we love each other, Phil wasn't sure what to do, so he kissed me. To be honest, I did kind of expect him to do something like that.

After that, we just sat on the bench talking. Dan and Andi went somewhere, then Kaeli and Mark left too. It was just Phil and I.

"Phil," I started, "I'm really happy that I met you today."

"I'm happy about that too, Maddie."

We continued talking...well, mostly Phil talking. I kind of just sat there daydreaming and nodding as he spoke. I know he said something about going to the movies sometime next week and I told him that would be fun. While Phil was talking my phone went off playing "Fashionably Late" by Falling in Reverse as my ringtone. Andi was calling.

"Hello?"

"Maddie," she sounded panicked.

"Andi? Is something wrong?"

"D-Dan..."

"Andi? What happened?!?"

"O-on the f-floor..."

"What? Dan's on the floor?"

"In p-pain..."

"Why?!? What happened?"

"I-I don't know..." she was crying now."

"Shhhh. Calm down. Breathe," I tried to soothe her, "where are you? Phil and I will meet you there."

"Outside the ice cream shop...h-hurry."

"We will be right there."

She hung up.

I turned to Phil. "Maddie. What the hell is happening?"

I hugged Phil. "Dan. He's on the floor. In pain. Outside the ice cream shop. We need to help." I started to cry. Phil hugged me and held me close.

"Maddie. It will be ok. Dan will be fine. Don't worry."

How can I not worry?!? Andi is freaking out and crying and I can't take it when my best friend is broken. I need to help her, I thought.

Phil stood up and took my hand, leading me towards the ice cream shop. I tried to walk but I couldn't really function. Tears were blocking my vision, so I held on to Phil's arm tightly. We got close to the shop and Phil stopped, wiped the tears from my face, and hugged me tight.

We started to walk towards a crying Andi...
