*SUPER IMPORTANT AUTHOR'S NOTE AT END- PLEASE READ*
The two were riding in Percy's car, a 1969 VW baby blue Bug, his pride and joy. They were on their way to this In-N-Out Annabeth wanted to go to, and were enjoying the last of the full sunshine before it faded into sunset.
They finally arrived as the sun was just setting behind the horizon. The sign was glowing and the light shined onto Annabeth's skin making her look like a goddess. Percy smiled to himself as he saw this beauty and was grateful that he, not anyone else, got to observe Annabeth's natural beauty right now. The two entered the restaurant and ordered. Percy got a number 3 with no onions and extra pickles and Annabeth got a Double Double with extra onions and no tomatoes. They both got strawberry shakes. When they called out their order, it was almost time for the In-N-Out to close, so the two booked it out.

They arrived at the beach at 8:50, only ten minutes left till nine. Suddenly, as Annabeth was setting up the picnic blanket that Percy always kept in his trunk, he pulled out a small case from the bottom of the backseat floor. Annabeth gasped when she realized what it was. He had a ukulele!
Percy had come prepared. He didn't even know it was going to happen, but on a whim as he ran out the door this morning he had snagged his ukulele and shoved it in the back. Good thing he did.
The two of them began to create a roaring campfire with some of the wood they salvaged. They pushed the blanket behind it and then sat down, pulling out their food. They ate, talked, and laughed for a while. Percy was having the time of his life, and for Annabeth it seemed no different. Then, they finished their food. They sat for a few minutes, unsure of what to do. Then, Percy pulled out his ukulele.
"Anything you'd like me to play, Wise Girl?" he asked, looking at Annabeth.
The firelight made her skin glow with a warm aura and to Percy is was the most beautiful thing in the world. Sitting here by this fire with Annabeth, enjoying the view and the company of each other was what home felt like to Percy. She smiled and replied.
"We Don't Believe What's On TV by twenty øne piløts, please," she said.
Percy began to strum out a the first few chords.

The two sang along when Percy hit that part, with only the crashing of the waves and the crackling of the fire adding as secondary instruments to the ukulele. Everything was perfect.
It seemed to Percy that he and Annabeth were as different as the fire and water that encompassed them. Annabeth was the fire, ferocious and fierce, always looking to be better, go higher. She was warm and funny and she was very pretty to look at. Nothing could beat the image Percy was looking at right now, Annabeth bathed in her element, shadows dancing across her face as she danced across Percy's heart, the ukulele and her voice serving as her muse. Each footstep left an imprint on Percy's heart, carving herself out a deeper spot in his heart and emotions. Percy was caught in a whirlwind, unable to escape the rush of emotions he felt. She was beautiful, she was smart, and she was his. Percy was in awe.
Now, Percy himself was the water. He was easygoing, went with the flow, but was fierce and strong when it came to certain things. He was prideful, but also humble where it counted. Although he didn't know it, Annabeth thought the same things about him as he did her. She thought that he was as beautiful as the ocean they now looked upon, entangled in reflections of stars and shadows. She thought that he was as meaningful as the sky that hung above them, intelligent and full of mysteries. His voice resounded in her soul, the lyrics meaning so much more than they should have. He played his ukulele and sang with such grace while he looked lovingly at her that her voice almost faltered. She was astounded by this seemingly simple boy. He was graceful, he was loving, and he was hers. Annabeth was in awe.
The two lovers continued to stare at each other with star-crossed eyes as they sang together, illuminated by the light of the fire and sitting under a ceiling of stars. Eventually they realized the time and packed up, after singing many songs and sharing many stories. The two had formed a bond- however, it was not yet unbreakable.

Percy had a blast rocking out with Annabeth in the car on the way home, so it was sad to see her home. They pulled into her driveway and Percy admired the small cottage. It didn't seem big enough for her family of 5, but he didn't ask, seeing as she didn't like her family all that much.
"Hey, are your parents home? If not, I'll walk you to the door."
Annabeth suddenly seemed to get nervous, but it quickly passed.
"No... they don't get home till late. And my brothers are at a sleepover, so you can walk me," she meekly replied.
The two walked together to the door, where Percy pulled Annabeth in for a sweet kiss. He loved it. She tasted like strawberries and their lips didn't fit perfectly, but it made it all the better, as they worked in tandem to make it last. Too soon, it seemed, did he pull away, but he couldn't be taking it too fast. He stared into her storm cloud eyes, envisioning himself surrounded by them- getting lost in them.
Annabeth was also staring into Percy's eyes, highly aware of his hand still pressed on her neck and hers still pressed against his lower back. His eyes were like the ocean- tumulting with emotion, and full of life. Annabeth felt herself descending deeper into their shadows.
Then, there was a knock from the door. They quickly pulled apart and made themselves presentable. Luckily, no hands ventured into hair during the kiss, so it wasn't that hard. After all, the kiss was only a small gesture of affection, not a lustful desire. Annabeth pulled open the door, and standing on the other side was Holly, looking sleepy in her pajamas.
"Annabeth-" she started, but then looked at Percy," W-Where were you for our... uh... sleepover?!"
"I was just hanging out with Percy," she said," It's okay, I'm back now!"
"At midnight!" Holly exclaimed.
"Holly, just get inside, I'll be in in a minute."
Annabeth then turned to Percy after Holly had shut the door and apologized for inconveniencing him, telling him she had had a lovely day and night. The two then split, leaving Percy staring after a shut door in the middle of the night. His mind drifted back to their date and he was left feeling wistful for it, wishing it had never ended. He shook himself out of his thoughts and then got into his precious car and drove off, thoughts filled with memories of firelight, an angel's voice, twenty øne piløts, and storm grey eyes- her lips lingering on his.
