Sonic the hedgehog was running through a place called South Island, when he suddenly discovered a badnik. Sonic defeated it, and saw a little animal called a flicky that was trapped inside the robot. He then knew that it was none other than by the work of Dr. Robotnik.
Dr Robotnik's plan was to create his empire on South Island by using his badniks to collect the six chaos emeralds. But with Sonic's speed, he was able to collect the emeralds before Robotnik could.
After running through zones to collect them, he ran through an area called the Scrap Brain Zone, and finally found Robotnik, ready to finally finish him off.
After he defeated him, Sonic finally sent the chaos emeralds back to Green Hill Zone, and brought life back to the island.
