Chaos emeralds are seven powerful gems that can turn a person's thoughts into power. A miracle will happen when all seven are collected. These gems are like lucky charms to the characters.
Sonic uses these emeralds to become invincible, and much stronger. But sometimes it's hard to try and keep all the emeralds together when they always get separated.
Sonic and other characters can perform chaos control with either one or seven chaos emeralds. Using chaos control could cause time to stop or slow down. Chaos control is also used as teleportation, time-traveling, or creating huge amounts of energy.
When all the chaos emeralds are collected, Sonic and other characters turn super. Sonic is transformed from being a regular blue hedgehog, to a gold, invincible, strong, super Sonic. Super Sonic can travel a lot faster than Sonic. Super Sonic also has the ability to soar through the sky like a shooting star.
