Chapter 5

(Salali)

I cannot believe we found Teigra. I haven't seen her since...well, since she tried to eat me. That's behind us though. Now, she's just a great friend.

I followed her back to her house simply because I didn't want her to be alone. It was a great idea though, I should know.

Her house is in the trees, made with sticks and twigs in a beautiful grassy valley. it has flowers woven in the branches, giving it a more natural look. I've tried doing that with nuts, but they all fell out when I tried.

Entering her house, I saw the malorug, depicting a tiger running through the forest and jumping over waterfalls. Its an amazing malorug, one I obviously didn't make. Mine consist of a squirrel finding the best berries and nuts in the world. You could say that I go nuts for nuts. Wait, focus!

I shake my head and follow Teigra into her bedroom, where she takes a orange and black striped backpack out. I smile at that, since mine is brown with berry and nut pictures. Russhell must have been saving it for me, and I already liked it better than my old one.

Teigra packed the small amount of food that she had in her house, a flashlight, a pocketknife, and a new change of clothes. she zipped it up and I smiled, knowing that we would be able to get back to the group.

(Teigra)

I'm overjoyed right now.

Salali kind of just watched me as I started throwing things into my backpack. I was intent on finding the exact things I needed. Who knows how long I'll be gone.

I grasped my travel supply of food that always I had tons of. Salali was staring at my malorug while I fit the packages into various areas of my backpack. A steady supply of food was always good. Being a tiger Anshifter meant that I needed more food than the regular forest Anishifter, so I always had extra.

I grabbed my orange flashlight and the black pocketknife. I had used it for skinning animals that I had caught, but it was clean after I sterilized it. Zipping it up with satisfaction, Salali smiled in anticipation, and we set off for the group.

(Russhell)

We continue to walk, while waiting for the return of Salali and Teigra. Glancing back at Buck, I saw him looking ravenously at a bush filled with berries that I'm sure Salali would have called wonderful. Ignoring his silent pleas, we continue walking, knowing well that he just ate.

"Russhell, I can see them coming!" Cat calls to me, and I stopped and look. Sure enough, a black stripe bright orange tiger and dark brown squirrel were running towards us. I admired the strength of Teigra's animal, its muscles rippling as it came towards us. It was a bright, fantastic orange, and I was a bit envious.

Shaking my head, I focused on the matter at hand. I was proud of my fox, and it matched me a lot better than a tiger. I could be sneaky, secretive, and mysterious, yet hold some beauty in it at the same time. It was what a fox did.

Teigra stopped with a very panting Salali. They both shifted with a bright orange flash and a brown glow. Teigra had her backpack, and it buldged at random areas. Narrowing my eyes, I called the group together.

"Alright, Anishifters....and Cat, we need to go now. It's already past noon and we aren't even a quarter of the way there," I reminded them. With determined faces, they nodded.

A loud, long howl pireced the air, and a sudden wanting to flee overcame me. I push against it, and I see the others doing the same. Minus Buck. He's already on the move.
