A Pinch of Kerry

Come Over

I woke up to my phone going off. I guess I forgot to put it on Do Not Disturb. I looked at the caller idea and saw that it was J calling.

"You better be dying...." I said grogily.

"Kerr...." I heard her voice crack.

"What is it?" I sat up.

"Can you just come over? I moved to those apartments behind that Walmart on 3rd. I'll send you the address." She struggled.

"Are you alright?" I started to get dress.

"We'll talk when you get here." She hung up and sent me the address.

"Uh...Kerry?" James rolled over.

I had really forgotten about him.

"I'm about to go handle something. You can stay here if you'd like. Go back to sleep, babe." I kissed his cheek.

I finished getting dressed and rushed out the door. I put the address in my GPS and sped there. I notified the rest of the girls too. Hopefully they would come. The apartments were nice. I wasn't even the slightest surprised. I walked up the stairs to her apartments and the doorman was eyeing me. I just kind of brushed passed him. I went to her door and knocked. She opened the door and she looked.....a mess. I just pulled her in for a hug.

"Kerry." She weeped into my shoulder.

"Its alright. Its all coming together, isn't it?" We went and sat on the couch. Her couch was full of tissues and blankets.

"He took something from me, Kerry. And the sad thing is, I'm not really bothered by that part. The fact that he CONTINUED to take from me. He even hurt you. My bestfriend. My sister. How long would it have been till he took all of me? Until he took me completely out?" She looked at me.

"Does it matter now? He's gone. He's being sent to jail. You don't have to worry about if this or if that. You need to worry about things that are definite right now. Be glad he was gone before he took everything." I rubbed her shoulder.

"I'm sorry. This is my mess-."

"No. You're my sister. Your mess is my mess."

"It all kind of just HIT me. Like, this whole time someone was winding back the baseball bat and now, they finally swung. They hit me straight in the face."

"It'll be alright. With every bad wound, its a good lesson learned. You learn, you experience, you move on."

"You're also not alone..." Kel said from the doorway.

We didn't even hear her come in.

"He may have taken something from you, but we're here to help create new pieces and heal ugly scars." I motioned for Kel to sit down.

"By any chance, do any of you have wine?" J asked.

"I do." Di walked in.

She went directly for the kitchen to get glasses and uncork the wine.

"I know yall don't think I'm about to carry all this myself."

We went to the kitchen for our glasses. Kel and J sat at the table. Di stood and I sat on the counter.

"Surprised Charlotte isn't here." I sipped.

Then, this bad rainstorm boomed throughout the house.

"I miss, Maddison." Kel said.

"She left us for Hollywood, a happier life." J added.

"Is Hollywood really that happy?" I asked.
