Months later
My job was going great. One of my pieces had a grand opening and everything. For once in my life I felt like I was going somewhere. My sister and I had gotten somewhat closer. She told me she met a guy at a convention. They went on a few dates and she thought he was pretty interesting. I told her to go for it. She's not getting any younger. Charlotte ended up moving to NY and creating her own firm. She tried to persuade Maddison to come with her, but Maddison wasn't moving. I went to visit her in California, and everything was kind of....distant. I felt like we were pulling apart. Well, Di and I were still sisters. Dave says he plans to pop the question and he needs my help. I warned him that Di isn't going to be the easiest bride. I also warned him that if he left her at the alter he wouldn't be living anymore. J's abusive ex boyfriend was finally put in jail. He ended up being put in for quite a while, because apparently he was once apart of some huge cartel. I honestly don't know what Kelly is doing. I kind of envy her because she's just Kelly. She's beautiful so she can have any man she wants. She models when she feels like and to top it off, she has a degree in Psychology to fall back on. My life was pretty good, I can't complain. James and I still had few rough patches ever since I agreed to help John with his business. John wanted to open up his own line of watches, he needed a woman's point of view. I know I'm not the only woman John knows. I asked him why he only asked me. "You're the perfect fit," he would always answer. Today, I was going to figure out how to get a certificate in welding. I've always wanted to try it. Between work and social time with my boyfriend, I just haven't had the time. Today was my day off. I could finally kick back and relax. My phone started to ring and I reached for it. It was John.
"Yes?" I picked up.
"Why do you always sound so attitudinal? I can't get a hello?" He ranted.
"Hello, John. Yes?" He's such a baby.
"Better. Have you talked to the lady about the design of the winter edition watches?"
"She only sent me the black ones. Is there more?"
"Yes. What are you doing today?"
"Researching welding." I did have something to do today.
"Well, meet me at the corner of 25th for brunch. Now. Its a cafe, there."
He hung up after that. He had some nerve. What if I had something important to do? I just got ready to leave. "He better have gas money," I said to myself. I actually would like to chill on my day off. I straightened my hair a little, put on some lip gloss, tossed on some shoes, and I was out the door. I was riding and listening to Beyonce's "4." I loved that album. I kind of wanted to drive some more just so I could listen to music. I arrived at the little cafe and stepped out. It was really cute. They had books on the sides and a mini coffee shop in the middle. It was almost like Barnes & Nobles, but a bit more of a personal touch. I scanned the room for John. He stood up and raised his hand. I walked over noticing his business casual attire.
"Didn't you come from work?" I sat my purse on the table.
"Yes. Its casual Friday." He had on jeans and a nice polo.
"Oh. I see you, boss man. But do you have the designs?"
"No. I just wanted you to come to brunch with me." He smiled.
"John..." I sighed.
"C'mon. I'm nice."
"James already doesn't like you." I rolled my eyes.
"Whose fault is that?"
I gave him an evil glare.
"Fine. I'm sorry. Just stay and eat." He pleaded.
