Nightmares (Alan Ashby #1)

"No!" a voice shouted, causing you to awaken from your peaceful dream. The sound had came from the other side of your bed. After turning a lamp on, you flipped over and saw your boyfriend, Alan, panting heavily with tears threatening to fall out of his eyes.

You quickly pulled him into a hug and began rubbing his back in a comforting way.

"Shh," You hushed, letting him cry into your shoulder. "Everything is fine. It was just a bad dream."

"B- but I thought you were. y-you were" he sobbed. You continued running a hand through his snarled locks until he calmed down. Placing a gentle kiss on the top of his head you felt him relax more into you. Soon he pulled away from the position.

"I'm sorry for waking you," Alan apologized looking down at the sheets. His tear streaked face held much sadness and worry.

"No, it's fine. Are you okay though?" you pestered, lifting his chin up."Do you want to talk about it?"

"It's just-- I thought you left me and I couldn't take it," he stuttered, fidgeting with his hands. You reached over and pulled him into a tight hug once again. His arms instantly coiled around your waist, making you never want to leave this position.

"You aren't going to leave me. Are you?" Alan asked in a small tone. You felt his grip tighten on you slightly and him snuggle into your shoulder.

"No, I'm never going to leave you, okay?" you whispered softly. You pulled away from hug and placed you hands on both sides of his face. "And I mean it, not ever."

"Pinky promise?" Alan asked, holding out his finger. You giggled at his action, but complied anyways.

"Pinky promise," you finalized, wrapping your pinky around his. Alan smiled brightly and pulled you into a sweet kiss.

"Now lets try to get some sleep. Some of us do have to work in a few hours," you announced lying down on your side. Alan didn't say a word, but you felt him wrap an arm around your waist. You smiled to yourself and slowly drifted off to sleep.
