**********You were lying in bed, surrounded by blanket, pillows, and a few snack, binge watching Netflix. You had gotten so invested in the shows plot that it took you a moment to notice that your phone was buzzing.
"Not now," you groaned, pausing your episode.
"Hello," you said, not even bothering to look at the caller ID. You could hear coughing coming from the other end of the line, but there still was no reply.
"Hello?" you asked.
"Hey, (Y/N)," said a familiar, raspy voice, "Can you come over right now?"
"Of course," you answered, "What's wrong?"
"My head is killing me, I can't stop coughing, and I feel like sh*t."
"I'm on my way right now," you said, closing your laptop and rushing towards the front door.
"Thanks, babe." Alex said, sniffling.
"No problem. See ya in a few." you replied, slipping on your shoes and heading out the door. You hung up and hopped into your car. You decided to make a quick stop at the store to pick up some medicine and ingredients to make soup. Luckily, since it was still kind of early in the day, the checkout lines were short and you were able to get in and out in a timely fashion.
After a short drive, you arrived at Alex's house. With a brown paper bag in your hands, you rushed to the front door. It took you a minute to remember where Alex hid the spare key, but you eventually found it underneath a gnome near the front door. You had no idea when or why Alex had gotten a gnome, but right now that's not important. You sneakily unlocked the door and tiptoed into the kitchen to set the groceries down and organize them a bit for later. After you were done, you carefully walked up the stairs, making sure not to step on the creaky ones. Then you went to Alex's bedroom and opened the door.
You looked to the bed to see that Alex wasn't there, but in his place there were clumps of tissues and snot scattered across the bed and on the floor. There was a small bin next to his bed, but through all of his sickness he probably forgot.
Violent coughing erupted from the bathroom. You rushed to the bathroom door and opened it to see Alex kneeling in front of the toilet, coughing his lungs out. You rushed to his side and began rubbing his back in a comforting way.
"It's okay. Let it all out." you said gently. After a few more minutes of silence Alex leaned up against the tub.
"How are you feeling?" you asked. Alex shook his head back and forth. Pieces of hair stuck to his forehead as beads of sweat dripped down his face. You placed your hand against his head and he was burning up.
"Whoa, you're really hot." you said, not even thinking. Alex smiled slightly, but you could tell that he was still in pain. You rolled your eyes.
"We really need to bring your temperature down," you said. You got up and opened the small cabinet in his bathroom that contained towels and toilet paper. You grabbed a wash cloth and held it under the cold water from the tap.
"Here, this should help," you placed the wash cloth on his head.
"Do you want to go lay down?"
"No...t y...et." he replied in a hoarse tone. You have never heard him sound so helpless. You let him rest his head in your lap, while you ran your fingers through his hair.
His eyes fluttered shut and you could soon feel him relax. Soft snores and incoherent mumbles were the only sounds that could be heard throughout the house. You could also feel yourself beginning to relax.
