It's Complicated...

Chapter 11/Grace's POV

"So... You know when I went to the hospital and stuff?" I asked.

Mom and Adam both nodded and gave each other a worried look.

"So, anyways, you didn't really... Well you weren't my parents at the time. So when the nurse was about to tell you... She didn't because you weren't my legal guardians. Anyways, I'm stalling. I... I have a disease." I stuttered. "Well... Kinda life threatening."

Mom and Adam looked completely shocked. We sat in awkward silence for about a minute before Adam spoke.

"So.. What are they then?" Adam asked. "I mean, the diseases, what are they?"

"Oh yeah... That. I've had it sense I was little. Umm... I have anemia. Which is cancer. They have some sort of procedure for when I'm older that may help me so I can live a long life. Right now it just makes me weaker. Sometimes I don't feel as well as I should..." I said, feeling awkward to admit the fact that I had cancer and may not live a long health life like most kids. "Please, please don't send me back."

"What? Why would we send you back for that?" Mom asked.

"Because some people did. I... I dunno. I expected you guys.. Well I expected all of you to be the same." I said, looking over at Adam.

"Grace..." Adam started, but stopped after thinking over what he was gonna say. I sighed began to play with my hands.

"It's complicated." I said.

"Wait, Grace. Then don't you... Well aren't you supposed to go to the doctors every month for that stuff?" Adam asked.

"Supposed to. Sometimes I'd sneak away to it. But that was when I was around 9-10. I got in trouble for it so I stopped. But I always take my medicine so..."

"Grace, when's the next time you have to go in?" Mom asked.

"I haven't made an appointment in awhile."

"Well we're gonna make you one towards the end of the month. We want you with us for as long as we can." Mom said, grabbing my hand.

"How about a movie night for my lovely ladies?" Adam asked.

"Sure!" I said, smiling at the suggestion. "And thank you both. For everything."

This was mushy. So Grace has cancer.. Sad face! Thoughts? Next chapter with be some Adam and Grace stuff.
