Ten Years Later/ no POV:
Taylor held a sad smile as she looked at the grave.
Ten years ago today, the Swift-Wiles had been in a devastating car crash.
A crash that killed Taylor's unborn baby.
They never found out the gender, but Taylor insisted on making a gravestone even if there was nothing to put in it.
"Mom, we really need to go." A 13 year old Buddy said, pulling on Taylor's hands.
"I know, let's go." Taylor sighed, setting the white lilies on her unborn's grave.
Taylor sighed again, getting into the other side of the car, while Adam started the engine.
They knew that this day would come, no matter how hard they tried to fight the fact that it would.
Buddy was devastated. Once Adam told him the news, they went straight to go pick up mom and here they were.
Once they arrived after a silent ride, they all ran inside the hospital.
"We're here for Grace Winters please." Adam announced, trying his best to act strong for his family, when on the inside, he was a total mess.
"Yes, right this way please." The nurse said, leading them into a waiting room.
"One at a time?" The nurse said. "One of the parents may enter with the child."
"I'll go." Adam announced, grabbing Buddy's hand and gripping it as tight as he could.
"Hey GG." Buddy said softly, grabbing her hand.
"Hey Budster." Grace did her best smile, showing she was okay. 24 years old next week, Grace thought she could keep pulling with her life. Maybe live until she was 60 or so. But cancer had other plans.
"Grace, I'm gonna miss you a lot." Buddy said, trying not to cry.
"Hey B, don't cry. You know that there's a chance I can make it."
"5 percent Grace." Buddy said, frowning.
"And that 5 is gonna be our lucky number to kick cancers butt." Grace supported, although her hope was slowly fading.
"Baby girl, please hold on for us." Adam said, not even bothering to hold back his tears.
"I'm trying daddy." She smiled. "I love you both so much."
"We love you too." They said in unison, smiling the best fake smile they had all day. Maybe this smile wasn't fake. Keep hoping. Mom says when you hope for something, it may come true. Buddy thought positively.
"Your time is up please sir." Then ruse said, directing them out of the room. Beside they left, Adam kissed Grace's forehead and Buddy hugged her tightly, then exiting the room.
"Miss Swift, your turn." The doctor said, opening the door for her.
Taylor was happy to see her pride and joy smiling at her as she walked in.
"Hey baby girl." Taylor smiled, kissing her cheek.
"Hey mom." Grace said.
"So, 24 in two weeks. You gotta make it out, you love your parties." Taylor joked, smiling at her daughter. "Grace, I love you so much."
"I love you too mom." Grace smiled, kissing her moms cheek and wiping away Taylor's tears that at one point had fallen. She was trying hard not to cry herself.
"Please try your hardest to make it Grace. We need you. I need you. I can't except change if you're gone baby girl." Taylor cried.
"I know mom, I'm trying my best. I will be okay. I'm not sure of it, but I know you'll manage. You're strong mom. I'm strong too. I'll do my very best. I'll make you proud mom. I won't let myself hurt you." Grace cried with her.
"You couldn't hurt me Grace." Taylor said.
"I love you so much mom." Grace smiled, kissing her mom.
"Excuse me? It's time for surgery." The doctor came in.
"Well Grace. This is it. This is the moment that decides your future." Mom smiled, kissing her daughters cheek.
"I'm ready for it, too. Mom, I'm gonna pull through. I won't let myself die because of some stupid disease. I can make it out alive. If I can out, through this surgery, you'll have me for awhile more. All I have to do is be ready." Grace said, more to herself than to Taylor.
"I'll hold your hand the whole time." Taylor smiled. "I believe in you Grace. You can do it, you can kick cancers butt."
"I will mom. Thank you, for everything." Grace smiled, kissing her mom once again before being wheeled away to surgery, where Taylor held her hand the whole time, as she promised.
As the surgery progressed, more or Grace's friends arrived, waiting with Adam and Buddy, who were anxiously sitting with their heads in their hands.
"Excuse me? All here for Grace Swift Wiles?" The doctor called.
"Here." A few of them said, standing up.
"Here." Adam said, taking in a deep breath. "Is Grace okay? Did she survive? Is her cancer gone?!"
"Well, we are informing you that your daughter, Grace, she has..."
The doctor was cut off by Taylor running out of the room and jumping into Adam's arms, smiling huge.
The end.
There will be no sequel. I liked where it ended.
Thank you so much to my readers. You're the best. I love you all so much I can't even describe it.
I've had so much fun writing this book. If you're sad that it's ended, go read my other books,
-My Little Miracle (which will soon have a sequel(or already does depending on when you read this) called My Little Angels)
-Times 2
-and soon to be a new book (or already is a new book if you're reading this later) called The Best Thing, so go read that.
Again, I love you all so much.
The idea behind this is that we have to accost change, because change is good. And it comes with life.
And for the last time in this book,
