Chapter 14/Grace:
"My moms here." I said, causally. I walked over to the car. "Hey mom? Is it okay if Cass sleeps over?"
"Course! Climb on in girls." Mom said.
"H...hi Miss Swift. I'm Cassidee Henley." Cassie said.
"Hey Cassidee! Call me Taylor." Mom said. Then we sat in silence for awhile.
"So, Cassie, it's almost dinner. What do you wanna do?" I asked her.
"Well, we can go to your room and talk" she looked at me seriously "and stuff until dinner."
"Fine. Mom, can you make the chicken ravioli?" I asked.
"Sure. We're here! Hop on out." She said. Mom kissed my forehead and then hugged me tightly before we walked inside. I said hello to Jeffery, the security guard, and walked inside as I watched Cassie's jaw drop,
Taylor:
I knew something was up with Grace. She wouldn't call me unless it was an emergency, and knowing her, she'd suck up being sick so me and Adam can continue. But we were glad when Grace called. Adam got sick before dinner and couldn't go, so we were just watching TV.
"We'll be up in my room. Call us down for dinner." Grace said, scrunching her face up when she mentioned food.
Grace:
"So, explanation please." Cassie said as soon as I closed the door.
"Bruh, that's a long story."
"You realize I'm sleeping over. We have time." Cassie said, rolling her eyes,
"Fine. So you know how I was adopted?" She nodded. "Okay, so before, Jake was one sort of my 'brother' if you can even call it that. His stupid family made me clean their house for them, and do all their work. I was a living Cinderella. No lie. And if I didn't do a good enough job, they'd hit me, kick me, punch me, etc. It's not the worst home I've been in, but I'm trying my best to run away from my past."
"Thats awful! Why didn't you call the police or something G?"
"Because, like I said, not the worst."
"Girls? Dinners ready." Mom said, opening my bedroom door.
"You have to tell Taylor." Cassie said.
"No way! She'd freak!" I said, shaking my head.
"Come on G! She'd freak if she didn't know and found out later. Tell her about your past homes and all. She'd understand." Cassie encouraged.
"Maybe. Let's go eat first." I said.
At dinner, I messed with my food, and took one or two bites, that was when mom looked at me, so that way she didn't think I didn't like it. When I eat, I usually put some in my napkin so it looks like I'm eating a lot.
"Soooo... Grace, why did you get homesick?" Mom asked.
Cassie looked at me as saying, do it now.
"I dunno. I've never had a sleepover." I said, shrugging. Cassie rolled her eyes and ate some more.
"Izzy's brother had a friend over, too." Cassie said. Not helping Cass.
"Was he being rude?" Mom asked
"To Grace, yes. He acted as if he knew her!" Cassie said, elbowing me in the side. I shook my head at her and pretended to be eating more.
"Oh. That's not pleasant." Mom said, running my knee. "You okay Grace?"
"Totally. Just stupid teens." I said, rolling my eyes. "Can't handle this."
Mom laughed and Cassie smiled and rolled her eyes. Seems as if I made it through dinner without Cassie spilling. Now I have the rest if the night.
Haha. Hehe. My mums on the phone (with your girlfriend) and I'm stalking it. Mwahahahhahahaha. Idek, I've gone insane!
