Chapter 13/Grace's POV
"Grace! Oh my gosh! Guess what?" Cassie said, running to me as soon as I entered gym class.
"What?" I asked, pulling up my hair.
"Okay, so me, Sara, and Izzy were thinking about having a sleepover Friday night!" Cassie said, smiling at me. "And since whenever us three have sleepovers, I'm usually the third wheel, we wanted to make sure you could come, it's at Izzy's! Can you ask your mom later?"
"Yeah sure." I said, staring at the cute guy, Liam, who's in three of my classes.
"Somebody's got a crush!"
"Shush. Let's go warm up."
That Friday night, me and Cassie talked excitedly as we walked to Izzy's.
"We're here." Sara said, running inside. Izzy followed after, and me and Cassie slowly walked.
"My brother just has one of his friends over. Otherwise we'll be totally left alone. I bet they're too busy in their video games anyways." Izzy said, laughing.
"Do they ever go outside? I heard a rumor that they're secretly vampires." Sara joked.
"Haha, very funny. Time for real talk." Cassie said.
"Real talk?" I asked.
"Boy talk." Izzy said.
"Oh, great." I said, rolling my eyes.
"At the same time we all say our crushes name." Sara said. "Ready? 1, 2, 3!"
"Mason!" Izzy yelled.
"Isaiah." Cassie mumbled.
"Liam." Sara said, smiling.
Oh crap.
I said nothing, looking at Sara awkwardly.
"Hey! You left us hanging. Don't you wanna..." Cassie said. She looked at Sara and then at me. Then she got it. "Oh, wait duh. You don't have a crush." She winked.
I smiled gratefully at her. Thanks I mouthed.
"Oh, you're no fun." Sara said, punching my shoulder playfully.
"Hey, watch the sunburn!" I yelled, laughing.
"Hey guys." A male voice said.
"Hey Derek. Shoo shoo. Meh friends are over." Izzy said.
"Same." Derek said. Then his friend appeared in the doorway. Oh gosh. He looked about 15, which would make sense now... He had his dark brown hair, tan skin, and black looking eyes.
"Hey girls." He said.
I just stared at him. He hadn't noticed me yet, thankfully.
"I have to go to the bathroom." I whispered to Cassie. She nodded and watched me get up slowly, and make my way to the bathroom.
"Wait. Grace?" He asked.
"You know Grace?" Izzy asked.
"Yeah. She's an... Old friend." He said.
"Hi Jake." I waved shyly, walking faster to the bathroom.
"Wait, what are you doing here?" He asked.
"I invited her, duhhhh." Izzy said. "Now go! You're crashing our party."
"Dude, come on." Derek said.
"W..."
"Let's go plan some Call of Duty." Derek said, saving me from that.
"Is he staying over too?" Cassie asked, glancing quickly at me.
"Yeah. Mom said if I had friends over, he could too. My mom is out with my dad in eastern New York so they won't be back for awhile, maybe tomorrow night."
I couldn't face him again. I went in the bathroom and dialed my mom's number.
"Hey mom?" I asked.
"What's wrong? Are you having fun? Are you alright?" She asked.
"I... I think I might be homesick. Can you pick me up?" I asked.
"Sure, I'll be there in fifteen." She said.
I hung up my phone. Then Cassie walked in. Poopy, I forgot to lock it.
"What's.. Why?" She asked.
"I feel kind of home sick. My mom is gonna pick me up." I said.
"No! Here, I'm sure Sara and Izzy wouldn't mind. I'll come with you and stay at your house!" She said. "I cannot stay here alone."
"You deserve to stay and have fun." I said.
"Well, so do you! So I am coming with you." Cassie said, dragging me back to the living room.
"Iz? She feels homesick. I don't want her to miss out on her first ever sleepover. So I'm gonna stay with her, okay?" Cassie said.
"Oh, okay! Sorry! I didn't know it was your first sleepover." Izzy said.
"Yeah." I mumbled.
"Have fun guys!" Sara said.
"Thanks." Cassie said.
"Wanna wait outside? I need fresh air." I asked Cass.
"Sure." She said, grabbing my hand again.
"Where you two going?" Jake asked as he and Derek trotted down the stairs.
"None of your business." Cassie said, grabbing her bag. I grabbed mine and we walked out the door.
"Don't like it here?" Jake asked.
"I feel homesick."
"Homesick? So, you have a home now, eh? You like it?" Jake asked, smirking.
"Yes." I replied, turning back around.
"Well, I'm sure nothing beats our house." He said. I stopped and Cassie looked at me funny. I shook my head, not at him, at myself, and then grabbed I Cassie's hand and pulled her outside. You could practically hear everyone's confusion.
Hello friends! I am sunburned really badly. Eww. Anyways, what's happening? Who the poop is Jake and how does he know Grace?
