Puppy crawled into the bed.

I looked up at him from my phone. "It's pretty late buddy--what are you doing up?"

"'M not tired." He replied in his usual slow tone.

I nodded my head. "Alright but bedtimes are important. If you don't get enough sleep you'll be cranky tomorrow."

Puppy shook his head. "Bailey stays up real late with Kyle--I can stay up real late with you!"

I sighed, putting the phone aside. I watched Puppy stifle a yawn and bat his clearly weary eyes at me. "I don't mind you going to bed when you're tired. And you're clearly tired."

"No I'm not!" He argued loudly.

I hardened my stare. "Puppy, I don't appreciate your tone. You're not listening to me."

He climbed closer and kissed my mouth hesitantly. I accepted the kiss but when he pulled back, moved away. It clearly hurt Puppy's feelings and I felt bad about that. "It's not time for that Puppy. That's something we should have done earlier."

Tears filled his eyes. I knew he was overtired so I expected him to be emotional. I let him cry a moment before he flopped onto my bed. "You don't like my kisses."

"I love you kisses." I argued. "And I love you. That's why you need to get your sleep."

"You get up early and go to bed late. So does everyone else! Why do I gotta go to sleep really early?"

'Really early' was 8:30. Arguably it was still early evening and for most adults and teenagers, ridiculous. But Puppy was winding down around five thirty and obviously drowsy at eight. He had just accepted until now. He had been spending a lot of time with Bailey recently and I suspected that was why.

"You don't go to bed early."

"I do so! I go to bed before the sun!"

I couldn't help but smile. He was just so...innocent. "You're tired." I pointed out as he yawned again.

He quickly shook his head. "Am not."

My phone went off as the buyer emailed me back.

HARRISON: Greetings. I'm free next Thursday to come and get the horse. What time works best for you?

"What are you doing?" Puppy asked curiously, leaning in to look, forgetting he couldn't read. "What's that say?"

I pulled the phone back. "While I don't mind you asking me that Puppy, it's very rude to look at people's phones without their permission. Do you understand?"

Puppy bit his lip. "So I can't know?"

I sighed and tried to think of a better way to explain it. "It's a man coming to look at horse he wants to buy."

Puppy processed this and nodded his head. "Okay."

"However, it's not okay to look at someone's phone without permission."

He cocked his head to the side. "Why?"

"Because it's not your business what they're doing in their phone and it will upset them."

"Make them...mad?"

I smiled. "That's right Puppy. Good job remembering what words mean."

He smiled sleepily and leaned against me. "Can I have kisses?"

I kissed his forehead and he pouted. "Not face kisses. Mouth kisses."

"How about an Eskimo kiss?"

"A what?"

I held his face and brushed our noses. He giggled. "That's not a kiss!"

"Sure it is," I argued. "It's a special kiss."

"You're just being silly." He turned to face me. "I want a mouth kiss."

"That's not a very nice way to ask."

He looked down. Then he was smiling brightly at me. "Please."

I leaned in to give him a peck. He grabbed my shirt however and tried to deepen the kiss. I took his face and firmly withdrew him. "That's very naughty Puppy."

"But a mouth kiss!" He argued.

"What about it?" I asked. "I gave you one and you were naughty and tried to get more."

"No you give me mouth kisses like that sometimes."

"You're right. I do. But not when it's passes your bedtime."

Puppy groaned. "I want to stay up and kiss you instead." He decided with a grin.

I put down the phone. "How about I bring you back to bed and kiss you goodnight?"

"We can both go to sleep here," he argued, squirming under the covers.

I couldn't help but smile. "Fine. You can sleep in here. I have some more work to do though."

He sat up. "I'll go help you."

"You can't Puppy. I have to send out emails and do inventory."

"Do what?"

"Boring stuff. Here or your room Puppy."

"I'll keep you company."

"That's not an option. It almost nine thirty Puppy--you've stalled for nearly an hour."

He stifled another yawn. "Please!" He begged.

"No. Bedtime Puppy."

"I'll go to my room but I'm not going to sleep." He replied angrily.

I held back a smile. "Would you like for me to kiss you goodnight?"

"I don't want anymore of your kisses tonight." He snapped. He made it to the doorway and looked back at me. "Well...maybe just one."

I moved my phone to the side table and approached him. "I thought you didn't want anymore of my kisses?"

He just glared. "I won't like it." He decided.

I chuckled and led him to his room. I turned off the lights again and closed the shades again. I picked up four stuffies lying on the carpet and tossed them on the bed. Puppy looked at me as though I'd kicked a dog.

"What?"

"You can't just throw them Scott! You'll hurt them."

Hurt inanimate objects. Perhaps it was possible in Puppy's world. I apologized to him. "I'm sorry."

Somehow he was able to pick the four and I'd thrown and cuddle each in turn whispering that I was a meanie.

It was both adorable and concerning.

The fact he identified so closely with stuffed animals meant he hadn't socially developed yet. I was hoping Bailey would help but he wasn't around enough to really impact him. And there weren't anymore subs around. And it wasn't exactly easy for him to relate to a Dom.

And while pushing him was helping him, I was reluctant to push him to far. I knelt down and kissed him. "I love you."

"Love you..."

He was already falling asleep.
