I cannot believe I'm sitting in a cop car. And I'm sitting next to my own mother. Shouldn't she be teaching me the right things to do? Obviously not.
I have to think of a plan. Something to get out of this mess. I wasn't drinking or doing drugs so I won't get jail time, but they won't let me go until the tests are completed. That could take forever! I'll have to miss school, and I'll have to catch up super fast. I'll definitely pull an all-nighter tomorrow night if I'm home. Oh my gosh. What if I'm not home by then? This is too overwhelming for me; I'm very sensitive.
I looked over at my mother, she was sobbing and sobbing. I saw the police officer roll his eyes in the mirror. He must not care about anything.
"Mom? Please stop crying. I'm getting a headache," I tried to sound like I didn't care about her.
"Roseanne!! Can't you see I'm in a cop car getting driven to a police station! I'm going to get arrested and I will have to go to rehab," she started sobbing even harder.I didn't think about what would happen to my family. I would just have to wait it out.
When we arrived, the cop got out and opened my mother's door and pulled her out. He slammed the door shut and walked her inside. Another cop came to my side and opened the door.
"Get out of the car," he stated sternly and grabbed my handcuffs and walked me into the building.
There were three cop cars, one with my mother and I, one with my father, and one with my siblings in it. I was the last one to walk in. I wondered why.
My whole family got locked in a room and we got pulled out one by one for interrogation. First my dad, then my mom, and a man walked in and stated, "Roseanne Parker, please follow me."
All of a sudden I got very nervous, I knew I did not do anything wrong, but could they charge me for not contacting the police for underage drinking and drugs? I knew about it of course but never did anything.
The interrogation room was small, just a small table, sitting on it was a recorder, a chair on either side, and cameras in the corners of the room.
"Please sit," the tall police man stated, "Someone will come interview you shortly."
I squirmed in my chair. I couldn't wait to get this over with. I heard the door open and instantly looked to see who it was, surprisingly, it was a girl.
"Hello, I'm Detective Sheryl, I have a couple questions for you," she said with her too perfect smile. She sat down and looked straight into my eyes. She creeped me out.
"What do know about your family's drug addiction?"
I sighed and said boringly, "Not much, I don't do drugs and I stay upstairs all the time."
"What do you do upstairs?"
"Study mostly, I want to become a pediatrician and I'm attending undergrad currently."
" I see that in your file, did you know what your family was doing?"
"Not completely, I knew bits and pieces but none of it matched up." I lied but it was still the truth.
"Hmm, ok, I need to do some tests to make sure you aren't drinking and doing drugs, any problem with that? I'll take a blood and urine sample just to be sure."
"Of course, how long will that take?" I was worried I might miss my morning classes. "
"A couple hours, but I have a feeling you will be here much longer than that."
"Excuse me?"
"It's obvious your family has done some stuff, and will most likely get arrested, same with your siblings."
"So what will happen?" I'm not surprised.
"Since you're 18 we'll let you go after we clarified you aren't doing drugs and drinking, but you're going to have to stay to fill forms and organize a plan for your family, since you're an immediate family member and they can't do it themselves."My jaw dropped. My family got themselves into big trouble this time.
