"Wake up."
"Mhmm."
"Now."
"Five more minutes, please!"
"Joey, get the hell out of my bed."
"No, let me sleep."
"WAKE UP!"
Joey got up with a start. "What the hell, Sarah?! Can't a guy sleep in peace?"
Sarah crossed her arms and glared at him. "You're in my bed!"
Joey sat up and rubbed his eyes. He blinked a couple of times and looked around the room. He most definitely wasn't in the hospital.
"Where am I?"
"At the Nurses' Residence."
"What am I doing here?"
"I could ask you the same thing."
Joey scratched his head. He tried remembering the events of the previous night, but his memories were fuzzy. "I can't remember a thing."
Sarah rummaged through her purse and took out a scrap of paper. "Maybe this will jog your memory." She tossed it to him.
Joey smoothened it out. It was a receipt from a restaurant. Suddenly everything came back to him. "Oh my god. I had a date with Kennedy last night! Where is he?"
"At the hospital, doing his job. What I'm more interested in is why you're in my bed and not back at the hospital."
"Uh, I'm not sure." Joey tried hard to recollect the previous night. They'd had an amazing dinner, and were on their way back to the hospital. But they'd taken a longer route.
"Wait a minute," he said, "we took the route via the Nurses' Residence because Kennedy had to check up if you were taking the night shift or not."
"Well, I did," Sarah said, "but that still doesn't explain why you're in MY bed."
Joey rolled his eyes. "Patience, lass. I think I was really exhausted after the date that I dozed off on your bed."
She wrinkled her nose. "Oh, I really hope you guys didn't do the, you know, on my bed."
Joey shrugged. "I still have my clothes on." Suddenly, he started feeling a little dizzy. He lay back down. "Ugh, I don't feel too good."
Sarah sat down next to him. "Well, obviously. There's a reason you're not allowed to leave the hospital, you know that, right?"
"Blah blah blah. Just take me back, please."
"Come on." She put his arms around her shoulder and carried him down the stairs. The hospital wasn't too far, but they still took the car. They got there under five minutes and Joey was immediately taken to his room. Sarah connected him to the heart monitor and the IV drip, and made sure all his vitals were stable. She put the blanket on him and left the room. She needed to go back home and get some sleep herself.
On her way out she bumped into Kennedy.
"Oh, your boyfriend's in his room."
Kennedy heaved a sigh of relief. "Thanks, I owe you one."
"Hell yes, you do. He could have died, you know. "
"Yeah, I do. I shouldn't have been so careless. And I should have brought him back to the hospital with me. But he just looked so peaceful and gorgeous, I didn't have the heart to disturb him. I mean, how do you-"
