Chapter 13

Edward snuggled towards the soft pillow, he grabbed it closer to his face, and then he heard a soft giggle, he smiled and his eyes fluttered open to see a peach or pink coloured dress. He could never get those colors right, it never mattered, unless he had to paint...

His eyes snapped up to see a rather amused Mia, and widened with shock when he realized that he was occupying her bed. He quickly got up, and looked unsure, as he did not know how to start a conversation with an unintended victim of his claws.

And whose fault is that?

Err. Mine.

Apologise now.

Yeah ok.

He finally looked apologetic and said, "I am sorry Mia, to hurt you like that,and then fall asleep when you clearly need a lot of rest. "

Mia clearly tuned out after he called his name, she decided that Edward's voice was to die for, she found it addictive, it was neither too deep, nor shrill, just the perfect amount of hoarseness. She blushed, when she realized that his voice was sexy, so she kept fiddling with her fingers.

Edward of course noticed her awkwardness and thought it was time to move on, besides he was yet to get his answers from Alpha Michael Knight, and he hoped he was not too late , so he got up and said

"Bye Mia. Take care of yourself. If you need anything...."

" I am afraid you can't leave without Mia," Zach interrupted his goodbye. He  hated interruptions and looked at him irritated with his raised eyebrow.

"You have claimed Mia as your mate, so you can't leave without her", Zach continued.

If people were not scared of Edward's anger when he fought with Michael before, they would be considering his tense posture and shimmering grey eyes. His fists clenched and unclenched, and he finally managed to say  "What are you trying to imply ? "

"After you hurt Mia, you practically did not allow any male including members of her family to touch her. In fact once she woke up for some time, you called her Mate in the presence of her family.", Zach continued.

"Impossible. I dont believe it. Why would I even choose a mate?"

"I 'm sure Alpha Smith and Alpha Knight will confirm the same. May I remind you, Alpha Kindheart is respected in the royal court, and surely you do not want your pack to be de-recognized."

" I'm quite sure Dad wouldn't do that", Mia decided to interject, she clearly did not like the argument that was brewing between Zach and Edward. Edward, just treated her like a normal person, did not look at her with sympathy or awkwardness.

" Perhaps not, but I would consider it judging by his denial.", Alpha Kindheart joined the conversation.

"Let's take this outside boy", Philip and Alpha Smith headed outside the room with Edward and Zach.

Mia looked at the quartet outside discussing, well they sure did't look like discussing, more like arguing, Edward was angry and started gesticulating. Zach and her dad both were speaking , he kept on shaking his head in denial. Finally Uncle Phil caught his shoulders and gave him a jerk.  

She felt disheartened when Zach glanced at  her once, and then turned the other way round.  She knew Edward required treatment, and she would have to do it in a subtle manner, so she agreed to Zach's plan. Right now though it felt like a crucial heart break. She didn't know , why she really wanted Edward's approval, or acknowledgement, may be it was because he uttered that magical word  "Mate."
