Chapter 20

Edward's office was traditional looking functional office. It seemed fitting for Master Ben to help the Alpha in operating the pack. It was unusual for an elder to sit at the helm, instead of a Alpha. Mia was sure even back in Kindheart territory this was not the norm. She decided that Ed was definitely a different kind of Alpha, the handful number of times she had seen him angry, he did not phase into his wolf, neither did he manhandle any one. He just got dangerously calm, and his glare was enough to keep things in control. He had displayed a self-control bordering inhuman,when she refused to go back home. She was quite sure Ed did not agree with her, but nevertheless did not argue further. She felt happy, that he did not make a scene,  instead told her the reason. This was unexpected for most Alphas, he was special. She felt giddy with her realization , and in her happiness she squeezed his forearm, he looked at her puzzled but gave her a heart-warming smile.

"Is every one settled? Yes.. Well let me begin then. Mia do you know why the Royals rule over us?", Master Ben asked her.

"They are believed to descend from the Lycans, that's why."

"Actually Issac Royal and his friends were the first group of lycans, who came to protect mankind from evil creatures. Since they always had to kill some vile creature, they decided to transform into powerful wolf. Of course till this date, the present Royal family is known to be the only family which has powerful lycans.", answered Graham

"You mean his friends and their families are no longer lycans?", Mia was astonished at this revelation.

"Correct yet incorrect.", Master Ben looked at her quizzically. She was puzzled ,"What do you mean?"

"Many of their children did not carry the Lycan gene, hence they were powerful shifters alright, but not lycan. No one knows why exactly only the Royal Family were the only family which had Lycan offspring. But do you know the identities of the friends of Issac Royal?"

Her mind came up with a blank, she had no idea, yet she felt she did read about them sometime back in school, she was thinking deeply, when Ed said , "Mia you know all of them one way or the other."

She was stunned, so she decided to guess and the first name that came to her head was, "Zach?"

"You mean Zachary RedWood ?", Master Ben asked her, she rapidly nodded her head , but she was disappointed when he said, "Unfortunately not. However I'll give you a clue, they are all close to you."

Knowing she had nothing to loose she confidently answered, "My Dad, Ed and Michael... I mean alpha Michael."

She could not hear what Master Ben said, because Ed had finally lost control andy growled out. Mia looked at him anxiously , but then for some unknown reason to her, she could not look at his mesmerizing liquid crystal intense grey eyes. But then she didn't have to when she heard Master Ben speaking and said, " Correct." She nearly got a whip lash , and stared at him unsurely and he continued speaking "including Alpha Smith's family."

She still suspected the story , but then decided to listen minutely to find out any clue.

Master Ben continued with his story and recounted them, how the four friends had different qualities. Yet they helped each other in times of need. He told them, " Alpha Smith's pack is nothing but a group of blacksmith or ironsmith,however their knowledge in weapon design in unparalleled. Now listen to me carefully, when you were kidnapped you were secured by a pack do you remember them?"

Without batting a eyelid she answered ."Silver Mist pack."

"Correct. Silver Mist had the maximum number healers, and unsurprisingly they were gunned down.We had tried searching for them in vain, but nothing came up, therefore we decided to declare them extinct. Of course  the previous Alpha also tried to assist Red Moon, and even they were wiped out.. Red Moon was known for it seers, oracles whatever you  want to call them."

"Didn't you save some of them?", Mia asked them.

"Yes we did , but they did not inherit those powers.,"Uncle Ben's eyes misted, he had lost his family in that battle. He wiped away the tear hastily , turned around from the windowpane, and smiled briefly at the small group and said , " The Knight Pack and Blue Moon, were known to have fierce warriors, we are still the most trusted and fierce, and Knights are only second to us.."

"What about KindHeart family, well here lies the biggest mystery. Every generation of the Kindheart, had few lycan traits  mixed with other shifter genes. they were the first ones to adapt to the ways of mankind. The Alpha's of this pack were known to be generous, compassionate, and were always the first to help or provide assistance. The numerous times your father helped this pack is practically incomprehensible in the werewolf society, but he is like that."

"I still don't get the link between this story and the impending threats.", Graham asked irritatedly, and in a turn of events Bruce did the unthinkable.

SWAT. 

" Luna Olivia was from the Royal Pack, and royal family. She was most likely a Lycan.", Bruce answered gruffly.

As soon as Bruce finished Edward rushed out of his office. Mia went out after him, but was stopped Shawn who assured her with a look that said, that he would take care of Alpha.
