It's been days since our last breakthrough and still no Havens Peek. I don't get it. We found the secret passageway which led us to the other side of the mountains.. So why weren't we there yet?
Dinah had grown irritable with me. I knew deep down she still blamed me for Cierras death but there's nothing I could do..
Max tried his best to comfort her but with no success. She just didn't want to be bothered.
Lauren was just... was just amazing. We started spending more and more time together than apart. We would walk ahead of everyone else and giggle about the littlest things.
At nights I'd sit between her legs while she held me close and we would gather around a small fire watching the stars.
She's so beautiful and every time I'm around her my mind fails me. I get lost in her eyes every time. Those emerald green eyes and that smile!.. It makes me weak. Everything about her made me feel safe and I was lucky to have her.
We walked on and on between the trees searching and waiting for our journey to end
"Wait!.. Do you guys here something." Lauren whispered.
We looked around and didn't see or here anything.
"No. It was probably just the wind." Dinah protested
Soon men, about 7 of them, dressed in armer fell from the trees on a small thin rope. A couple of Soldiers came out from hiding. A large net casted over us and we fell to the ground.
"Don't move. You're surrounded!!"
"Well how the hell are we suppose to move with this big ass net over us!!" Dinah screamed.
I could see someone walking over to us slowly.
"I will remove the net but if you try something we will shoot."
They slowly lifted the net and we slowly stood to our feet.
"Who are you!" A short light brown haired girl stood before us. She was dressed in army clothes and stood up tall with a shot gun.
"Uh.. Im Camila, and this is Lauren, Dinah, and Max. We are just looking for Havens Peek." I blurted out.
The short girl looked at us up and down before nodding her troops away.
"How'd you hear about it?" She asked
"From a friend." Dinah said curiously.
"Well you found it. Part of it anyway. The other parts just behind those mountains."
Max fell to his knees screaming finally and we giggled. I hugged Dinah and this time she hugged me back. We were all too excited to dwell In the pass.
"My name is Lieutenant Brooke. Or you can call me by my first name Ally." She smiled.
"Nice to meet you! So when can we go?" I said excitedly.
"Just as soon as we check you. We need to make sure you're not a dweller." She said firmly.
We all nod and one by one let Lieutenant Brooke check us out. Max was the first to go and then Dinah. I was next.
"Camila..." Lauren whispered but I had already left and was too excited to pay attention.
Lieutenant Brooke lifted my hair above my head to make sure there wasn't a glowing chip on the back of my neck. Something Dinah had done when we first met. After seeing that I was clear I moved over to the side with the others and waited for Lauren.
Lauren looked a little off. She wasn't her normal self and when Brooke went to check the back of her neck she refused and pulled away. All guns were now aiming Laurens way at the gesture.
"Lauren! What are you doing. Just show them.. Show them you're not a dweller." I protested.
She looked at me with sad eyes.
"I'm sorry Camila. I can't.."
"Put Your hands above your head now!!" yelled Brooke.
Lauren slowly lifted up her hair revealing a small blue chip glowing in the back of her neck. The soldiers raised there guns and was ready to shoot. We all looked at her shocked.
This entire time she was a dweller?! How the hell did we miss that?!? My eyes started to water and I could feel my insides boil in what I can only describe as anger.
I was pissed.. Actually I was way passed pissed. She let me get close to her... She let me love her but hid the biggest secret this entire time. She's a lying son of a bitch. She probably doesn't even really care for me. Lauren is probably not even her real name.
I stood there frozen in shock. I couldn't believe what my eyes were telling me. Dinah explained to the soldiers that Lauren wasn't like the others. She killed her own kind in order to protect ours. After a long discussion of passed events Brooke finally agreed to taking Lauren to the General who is the highest ranking soldier in Havens Peek.
Laurens hands were above her head and she didn't take her eyes off of me. I didn't take my eyes off of her. She could see how hurt I was from the news. They started walking towards us and heading for Havens peek. My feet were firmly planted on the ground and Dinah tried to snap me out of my gaze.
As soon as Lauren got close I smacked her across her face. I couldn't hold back the tears any more. When she didn't object to the pain I smacked her again straight across her face. My hand started to burn and I was now crying even hard. I tried to hit her again... To kick her and yell at her but someone was pulling me back. I threw my arms and legs around trying to release my pain onto Lauren.
"Camila I'm so sorry!!" she cried out. Tears now covered her face and I could care less. She lied to me for days. I ripped away from whoever was holding me back and tried attacking Lauren again.
"Fuck you Lauren! You lied to me. You've been lying to be this whole time!" is all I managed to say before be being yanked back by my waist and carried off.
"Let's please keep the distance between these two." Lieutenant Brooke yelled out.
