"Lauren where are you taking me?"
"shhh its a suprise. stop trying to take the blindfold off!"
"I don't really like surprises Lauren."
"And i don't really care." lauren grinned as she guided her girlfriend down the familiar path.
After Lauren got someone to cover her shift at the barrier, she spent the rest of her day planning an evening out with her girlfriend. She knew she had to make up for all the times she'd bail out because of work.
"We're almost there!" Lauren whispered in her ear pulling her girlfriend towards her. "Watch your step". Camila placed her arms out in front her trying to come in touch with anything around her. "We're here" Lauren slowly unwrapped the blindfold off & dropped it to the ground. To say Camila was surprised would've been a understatement.
"oh my god lauren.." she admired with wide eyes. Big thick lights hung on to the small trees and a small table sat right in front of it. The table was set and the food prepared on top was covered up completely. Beautiful flowers were all around them and Camila could spell the magnificent sent that radiated off. It was a quiet and calm night and nothing could be heard but the sound of swishing water from the tiny pond that sat next to them. It was perfect in every way to Camila.
"it's so beautiful.." she examined. Taking in every detail of the area. "You did this by yourself?"
"I had a little help." she grinned guiding Camila over towards the table.
"It's amazing."
"Here sit." Lauren said pulling out the brunettes chair. She sat down & Camila took notice at how courteous Lauren was being. They sat down and Lauren motioned Camila to lift the cover off the food.
Camila's eyes widened in shock when she saw the contents on the plate.
"How did you-"
"I know a guy". Lauren shrugged as she watch her speechless girlfriend. Two slices of pizza sat on her plate. Lauren remembered how Camila would talk about eating certain foods like this and how she would do anything just to taste the foods again. So the green eyed girl made it her mission to try and find anything as close to what she wanted. And so she did.
Camila picked up the pizza and breathed in the sent of the cheesy content. She slowly bit into the pizza releasing several moans and lauren couldn't help but laugh at how ridiculous her girlfriend looked.
The pizza wasn't the greatest but the fact Camila hadn't noticed. It had been forever since the brown eyed girl saw a pizza, let alone eat one. Camila devoured both slices and lauren watched in awe. She loved making her girlfriend happy more than anything and decided to take the two untouched slices off her plate, and placed them on Camila's.
"What are you doing?"
"It's your favorite so you should enjoy it."
"But Lauren you-"
"Eat the pizza Camila." and even though Camila wanted to protest she felt herself moving to pick up the next slice. Her mouth was full with food and Camila hadn't noticed the silence at the table. She had been to busy eating with her pizza. Lauren waited patiently for the brunette to finish admiring the way her girlfriend would moan every time she bit into the slice. Camila was finishing up her last slice and Lauren finally broke the silence.
"Thank you." she said.
"For what?"
"For sticking by me. Being there for me. Loving me. I just.. i love you so much & i feel like i don't say it enough."
"Well.. You DONT say it enough." she joked. She loved it when the green eyed girl would tell her how much she loved her and since Lauren's been so busy she hadn't heard it as regularly as she did before. & she missed it.
"Yeah well.. that is going to change. i will scream it to the world if that's what it takes for people to know how much you mean to me."
"You're the cutest." Camila giggled. "And im happy you're all mine." She said reaching for Lauren's hand. She grabbed her palms intertwining their fingers. The gesture alone made Camila feel safe. Siting across the table from her girlfriend made everything feel safe. It was turning out to be a perfect night for the brunette and she knew that despite everything that had happened.. she would always feel safe in Lauren's arms.
"Did you make this? because the only thing i've seen you make was you bed & even that's a little sloppy." Camila joked
"Wow thanks Camz." lauren said guiding her hands through her hair. "And no i did not make it.. i had a little help."
"I didn't even think this was possible! I hadn't had pizza in so long and I never realized how much i missed it until now. Thank you."
"Anything for you Camila." Lauren watched as the younger one finished up the last bite of her pizza. She seem to enjoy the surprise and Lauren was overjoyed that she could put a smile on her face even just for a couple of minutes. As Lauren sat there, she admired every feature on her girlfriends face. She admired the way her hair fell right over her cheek and how Camila would tuck her hair behind her ears to keep it from falling further. She admired the way Camila would smiled every second she noticed a firefly passing bye or the sound of a frog belching in the small pond. She admired the way her eyes would light up every time she talked about something she loved. Those qualities are what made Lauren fall in love with the brunette. Those qualities are what makes Camila... Camila.
"Lauren.. you're staring. Stop staring at me." she smiled timidly.
"I can't help it." Lauren smiled causing a rose colored tint to appear on Camila's cheeks. "You ever wonder what's gonna happen to us in a couple of years?"
"What do you mean?"
"Like what our lives will be like? What the world is gonna be like? You ever wonder that?"
Camila frowned pondering Lauren's question. It was a hard question to answer. No one really knew where they'd be in a couple of years especially with the dwellers still out there ready to attack. So she came up with the best answer she could.
"I imagine we'd be living somewhere different on the base, maybe you'll have a different job that-"
"I don't want that." Lauren spoke up interrupting her. "I don't want to be here in five years watching over people and guarding a stupid gate. I want to be like those couples in the books you read. I want to have that life with you Camila. You are the most important thing to me & i don't want to lose you."
"You're not gonna lose me. I'm here to stay Lauren and i mean it. There is nothing more i want then to spend a life with your love surrounding me." Their smiles were clear as the night and from then on conversation fell easily between the two.
It had been a long week for the both of them and they were just glad that each other's company made it worth it in the end. they spent the next hour chatting and laughing about the most random things at times and Lauren even brought up the brown eyed girls old friend Dinah, Normani and even Max. She told her girlfriend that they all missed her and Camila made a mental note to repair things up with them later on.
"God i love you so much.." lauren chuckled. And Camila's heart fluttered at the sound of those words. The air between them became lighter and Camila felt like she had everything she wanted right in that moment. There was no way anyone would take the beautiful green eyed girl away from her. Not even the girls parents..
