They were definitely not squirrels.
After placing our weapons on the ground we cautiously raised our hand in the air. One of the creatures slowly started making their way towards us with their gun raised high. From the corner of my eye I could see Lauren ready to charge, but before she could do so Max ran from the group in the opposite direction. Everything started to move in slow motion.
I turned around as quickly as I can screaming his name and Liam even tried to grab him.
The creature that stood in front of us lifted his gun and pointed it at the young boy. Lauren saw his movements and charged for the gun. She swiped it from its hands but was tackled in the process.
Two large beast ran after Max while another four of them grabbed our arms to refrain us from running away. We struggled hard and long to get out of their grasp.
"LET GO OF ME YOU FUCKING ASSHOLES!" Dinah yelled trying her hardest to shake free.
Liam manage to break free from the creature sending him backwards. He tried to fight them off but it was one to many for him all by himself. Lauren was pinned to the ground and needed five people to hold her down.
"THAT'S ENOUGH!" A husky voice called out.
We all stopped our struggling and looked towards a tall creature coming from in between a group of them.
"Let them go.." he said, they all hesitated.
"But sir..."
"I Said Let Them Go!" he restated a little bit louder and slowly but surely they released our arms from their grasp. Two men slowly released Max from their firm hold.
Lauren picked herself off the ground brushing herself off. Dinah and Liam both had irritable and annoyed expressions on their face, but as for me.. I was just curious as to why he'd let us go..
The tall figure walked towards me standing directly in front of me.
"You're alive." he said
I looked up at the tall man staring down at me. I was confused. I took a quick glance at Lauren and the others who were just as confused as I was.
"Uhm.. yeah.."
"Ho.. how? You were...we thought you were dead."
I frowned my brow still not understanding the words coming from the tall figures mouth. He must know who I am but how? I could see Lauren making her way up behind me from the corner of my eye. As the tall figure reached down to touch my cheek Lauren quickly swatted his hands away. The creatures raised their guns towards Lauren, but the tall figure told them to stand down once again.
"It's okay." he said. "She's family."
A girl from the distance came running towards us. My heart skipped a beat once the tall figure pulled off the trashy mask he was wearing, revealing the man behind it. The girl walked up by his side.
"Camila..? Is that you?" she said trying to hold in her excitement. The faces of the tall man and the girl soon became familiar to me and I felt like I was going to pass out.
"Normani..."
